Hate groups and militias across the country, known to thrive on feelings of economic desperation and political impotence, are eyeing 2009 as a year of awakening.
"Every time the television shows an image of Obama it will be a reminder that our people have lost power in this country," said a recent posting on an Arkansas-based Ku Klux Klan Web site. "The betrayal will stare them in the face each time they watch the news and see little black children playing in the rose garden."
For all the racial optimism that comes with Barack Obama's presidency, there is concern in some circles that the confluence of a shattered economy and the election of the nation's first black president may promote a surge in hate group activity not seen since the late 1980s and early 1990s.
"I think it's very clear that we're at a worrying moment now, despite the remarkable accomplishment of electing a black man president," said Mark Potok, who heads a department at the Southern Poverty Law Center that monitors the activity of extremist groups. "We are seeing several things coming together that favor the continued growth of these groups and this movement."

There’s too much hate these days. Why just a few days ago, a reverend (a preacher should be a better example of Christian charity) prayed on national tv that ‘one race would do right.’
It’s not even racist to hate him, and I do.
By that logic, Obama and the liberals should do an undo and Obama should go back to voting present in the Senate.
There’s a KKK blog on the Internet? Who knew? I bet half of the ten or twenty members are FBI plants. But seriously, I’m not trying to excuse racist groups, however small. I just think that more good could be done if Omedia would come down on dangerous hate associations like the DNC.
Wait, according to President Bubba Diddler, there was a "racist" campaign of church fires in the late 1990s. He focused the FBI on a wild goose chase while the 9-11 hijackers were training for their mission on US soil.
And there certainly has been a rise of ugly antisemitism on US college campuses with Leftists and Islamists yelling for Jews to "go get back in the ovens".

Maybe they are trying to recruit someone to fill in for Senator Robert Sheets Byrd’s seat. He fell ill during the inauguration. Maybe that’s what the author is getting at.

This is just an excuse, a reason for Obama’s youth group to initiate certain restrictions to first monitor, and then write down addresses. Then round them up after an ‘attempt.’
