Yes, but Dallas lost a good deal of these players at once. If you look at the 1992 and 1993 Cowboys, what got Dallas to two super bowl wins? 1) a good line and 2) good running game.
Dallas has not had a consistent running game for ages. It started to develop but it fell apart due to injuries.
Dallas started to put things together on Thanksgiving, but then lost Marion Barber. Had Dallas won in Pittsburgh and at home against the Ravens, Dallas would be going to Arizona Saturday.
I also think had Jerry let Pacman loose when he should have, the Cowboys would have made the playoffs, he poisoned that lockerroom. All you had to do was hear Greg Ellis and Zach Thomas boasting that they are free agents, and want to get the Hell out of Dallas, should tell you what a bad atmosphere it became.
Contrast that with the Dallas Stars who cut loose Sean Avery, and have played well ever since.
The 'boys haven't won a playoff game since '96 and have crapped the bed every year this century in December.
How about they are good players but a bad team?
Look at the yankees this year, a load of good players and a TEAM that came up short.
No I didn’t blame every loss on injuries. If you go back and read, if you can, all of the NFL threads, I place blame the where the blame lies.
“The problem this year was injuries to some key players including:”
The Pats lost Tom Brady the first quarter of the first game on the season not to mention other key players throughout the balance of the year and ended up 11 & 5.
I would say that Romo has turned out to be at the level of a capable back-up. They need a real starting quarterback, not some flash-in-the pan no-talent whine ass. Particularly one who fancies himself Brett Favre, but is nowhere near the player Brett was in his prime.
Did they make it to the playoffs? How did their division record workout?
As long as you have a line, you don’t need a great QB. Ask the 2000-2001 Ravens.
During the game, they were saying he had flu symptoms.
My Seahawks had a horrible year this year (more as a result of injury than anything else, to be fair to them), but that moment continues to warm my heart nearly three years later. Thanks for the memory!
Hey you two, no idea whether you’re males or not, though I suspect you are, but lets see you take the position of any quarterback in the NFL, standing there with the ball, with big guys in pads and helmets coming at you intent on taking you down. I suspect you’d both be the 2 runts in the litter with all the little mewling pussies in the barn.
Rewrite that above sentence with any past or present Cowboy QB, coach, player or owner and it has at one time or the other been proclaimed loud enough to wake the dead in Outer Mongolia or in the ancient sands of Mars!
Hell, even Captain America, the immortal Roger Staubach had his media boo-birds and naysayers! "He only won half of his Super Bowls" or such crap.
Dallas is a bitcher’s town. Always has been and always will be. That is the only downside to being a True-Blue Cowboy's fan. I want them to win a Super Bowl ever year, but when they don't, I figure next year we will.
The Dallas Cowboys have been in 8 of the 42 Super Bowls that have ever been played (That's nearly 20% of those played!) and won 5. No other team has been there more nor won more, so even with all the so-called baggage, I'll take being a Dallas Cowboys fan over any other team.
But it helps to have a thick skin and a large... bladder
And, of course, being... drop dead, follow him-to-hell-handsome is a also a plus I enjoy!
You are cold....:-)
Im actually bigger than most QB’s in the NFL, and for the millions of dollars they get, ya sure, Ill stand there and get knocked over. I was agreeing with the other guy cause no matter how bad the game is, Romo still gets to go to his multi million dollar home with yachts and the blonde.
First time I remember seeing him was as a recluse bookworm on Twilight Zone.
He didn't need anyone.
Just wanted to read his books.
Then the entire world got wiped out and only he and all the books were left.
Then he fell down and broke his reading glasses.
My favorite was as a small town doctor in "A Big Hand for the Little Lady." with Joanne Woodward, Jason Robards and Henry Fonda.
I’ve noticed for the last several weeks that Romo has been slow getting back on his feet a lot. He’s been taking a beating this season, and its starting to take its toll.
I think the more relevant question would be "Will Zorn be a better head coach when he has 8 years experience as a head coach?"
Phillips has been in playoff games 4 times, and lost them all. He seethes with mediocrity.
/Skins fan //Skins fans are almost equally delusional about their own team ///Not giving up on Zorn after one 8-8 season.
Nice pic of Yoko Romo
I got a lot of wear out of that shirt. :)
