Ike Videos
YouTube

My aunt, who used to live in Texas City, moved to Austin this summer. I collected these videos for her and thought some of my fellow Gulf Coast FReepers as well as some of those on NN's ping list might be interested in viewing them.

Hurricane Ike Retrospective: Damage and Aftermath A Red Cross production

The Aftermath Of Hurricane Ike A CBS report

Hurricane Ike in Texas City, TX (2008) (At 1:40, this clip shows some of the evacuees in the Hampton where the roof came off. Later it shows them changing motels as the eye passes over.)

Texas City Dike Destroyed by Hurricane Ike

The Texas City Dike - Ike A Texas City official drives to the end of the dike. There was talk before Ike of charging to access the dike. It would seem that this event would almost guarantee that will take place, if for no other reason than to get funding to rebuild it.

Thank you so much for those videos. Spent many a weekend fishing and just having fun on the Texas City Dike. As long as there are fishermen in Texas it will be rebuilt in one form or another. I can still smell the bait shops as I think back on those days. Funky but fun! Thanks again for posting.

Thank you so much for those videos.

My pleasure. I sensed your concern for Texas City when I was reading the real-time Ike thread.

The CBS clip was chilling when the one lady called her cousin to tell her goodbye, saying that she was going to drown. So sad. I wonder if she has been accounted for.
