I know that there are some parasites which enter heart muscle and kill in Central America. I assume that there are nasty parasites which can enter brains, too. My husband was going to be asked to go somewhere in Central America for work and he did some research. He’s in agriculture, so he would be out fields, etc. He read about these critters and said “no, thank you. I’ll stay home.”

Wise choice. Most of the parasites that have afflicted me over the years - and are probably still living comfortably in various quite parts of my body came from there.

(This refers to endoparasites. Not to be confused with democrats, bureaucrats and various others who just prefer not to work.)
