It seems someone else is going into something of this nature. I received an email yesterday from “Regan Coalition.org. It was’nt much except to say more would follow.
Has anyone else received a similar email or know anything about them?

I would recommend finding a deserted island and starting a conservative government. We can do the press later.

Why not subscribe to Chronicles? That is the most conservative magazine I know and is guaranteed to infuriate 89% of those on this forum.

Hmmm.

It sounds a lot like the Patriot Post by Mark Alexander.

Another FReeper and I where discussing this the other day, why not a FreeRepublic magazine to compete with TNR, TownHall, etc..

Jim Robinson has done a stellar job with FR already, but great idea! Are you ready to put FR on steroids Mr. Robinson?

Anything with “Union” in its name is not good for a conservative group. For a variety of reasons.

How about something that people can remember that doesn’t sound like Stalin thought it up?

Ex. “The Right Stuff” (The Right Stuff got us to the moon and back; it’ll get the country back, too!)

Ex. “Right On!” (Right On, Left off.)

Ex. “The Right Way” (Any other way is the wrong way.)

Ex. “The Right Thing to Do.” (You know it is.)

Ex. “Conservative Country.”

Ex. “Conservative First.”

Ex. “Conservative Revolution.” (The Second Shot heard ‘round the world.) Or (This time, it’s war.)

Ex. “Common Sense Conservatives.” (No CINOs allowed.)

You get the idea. Conservative Union is about as exciting as a piece of dried toast.

I think I proposed Freeper magazine at least 5 years ago.

I agree with you.

I have been subscribing to Chronicles for almost 20 years. The writing is stellar; the analyses solid. I recommend it to my friends and have given subscriptions as gifts to those whom I perceived lost but redeemable.

Thank you for posting the recommendation.

There are times when I rant furiously over something until I realize that:

1- I am STILL a Neocon at heart;
2- Chronicles is invariably correct (based upon logic, history and facts).

Congratulations on your faithful intellect! I have only subscribed for 12 years but look forward to challenging and intelligent discourse in every issue.

Francis

I, too, read Chronicles. More Conservatives should do so. Mr. Sheed is correct: the paleoconservative view of Chronicles would infuriate most of those reading and posting on this forum. I believe the content and viewpoint would please many of the Founding Fathers.

A great source of original material is Liberty Fund, founded by Pierre F. Goodrich in 1960 “for the purpose of exploring the many dimensions of liberty.”

From the Liberty Fund website, one easily navigates to: The Library of Economics and Liberty; The Goodrich Room: Interactive Tour, displaying a timeline to help viewers understand our intellectual heritage; and The Online Library of Liberty, a project of Liberty Fund, Inc., where visitors may download electronic copies of many great works at no cost.

We need to continue educating ourselves, so that we may educate others and provide an intellectual defense of this Republic. The alternative is serfdom in Totalitarian darkness.

I like the idea.

We could have the “Zot of the week” recap.

“Thread of the week” on the thread that got the most replies that week.

“Vanity of the week” with kudo’s for a well thought out, original, insightful, and clearly labeled vanity.

as well as a

“Vanity of the weak”. Where we call you out for posting a stupid vanity.

I was thinking more of a magazine like The National Review, but it will be ‘for the grassroots, by the grassroots’, unique columns by folks here, not just in the beltway commentators.

In the closing paragraph of his American Thinker article, Safe Seats and Carolina Blues, C. Edmund Wright argues for the same thing you do: self-education and intellectual defense of the Republic.
