Dr. Ronald M. Davis, a former president of the American Medical Association who campaigned against tobacco, alcohol, obesity, illicit drugs and unhealthy lifestyles in his career as a public health official, died Thursday at his home in East Lansing, Mich. He was 52.
The cause was pancreatic cancer, said Brenda Craine, a spokeswoman for the medical association.

You are SO BAD.
This is why I have a medicinal wee nip of tequilla every night. Kills the cancer cells.
Such a wicked way to die at such a young age.
I'll Lift a Beer to his memory this evening, whilst munching on a nice rare steak. Perhaps will even partake of a cigar afterdinner.
Tisn't quantity as much as quality, IMHO.
So, if I cut out fattening foods and alcohol, eat only tofu and seaweed, I too could live to be 52?

Same type Patrick Swayze has. Outlook is usually pretty grim.

Well, you’d still have to exercise like Jim Fix.
A lotta good that health nazism did. Reminds me of that old Bloom County where the healthy hippie gets killed by a giant falling block of tofu (with a sprinkling of sprouts).
Keep in mind that this is the guy who led the AMA apology to black doctors for the horrible oppression that had kept them down (whatever in the hell that means).

Good motto to live by:
“Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO what a ride!”
Died before seeing the White House become a smoking area again.
That was satire
Only brain cancer cells :)
I hear dying is the number one cause of mortality in the US.

...this thread could go for hours about all the people we know that lived to be 100 smoking 3 packs a day, downing a quart of gin a day. It’s all about your genes. Now. Does anyone have a lighter and some ice?
I heard it was vodka that did that.
Yup, enjoy the life you have.
Prayers for Dr. Davis and his family.
He had good intentions, it’s just when the state gets in the way of our individual freedoms that I have a problem. Mandated public health policy smacks of socialism.
In the end, we all die. I put my faith in God, not in the state.
