Born in Christiana, Manchester in 1935, Mr. Lee died at the Tony Thwaites Wing at the University Hospital of the West Indies on Tuesday.

He was conferred with the Order of Jamaica on October 26, whil in hospital, one day after returning home via air ambulance nd being placed in the care of his localdoctors.
He had previously been awarded the Order of Distinction, Commander Class.
A tough day for Ska fans.
how is ska different than reggae?
I hope ya like jammin too.
Ska is a bit faster than reggae. I liked The Specials and was a big fan of Madness.
I saw Madness twice in concert and it was a great show. They were really a combo of pop, ska and British dance hall music.

Rock and Roll PING.
How many ska kids does it take to change a light bulb?
4
One to chang the bulb and 3 to Pick It Up, Pick It Up, Pick It Up!
Every ska song sounds unique.
Every reggae song sounds the same.
Reggae has a major advantage over ska: since their main fan base is potheads, musical originality is not a requirement.
My tastes run more to ska-core (Bosstones, RBF, Pilfers, and about a hundred other defunct bands) but I still like the two-tone roots.
Caught the Skatellites about 6-7 years ago and they were the tightest show I've ever seen, ska or otherwise.
Byron Lee, Tiney Winey
The Specials, Gangsters
Madness, One Step Beyond (everybody do the nutty train!)
“One Step Beyond,” in a diferent sort of way.
For ska-influenced rock, look up some old Sensational Alex Harvey Band stuff.
I'm not sure what happened, but here's the news:
Byron Lee is alive!!(Rumours of Ska Pioneer's Death Greatle Exagerrated)
