... Sarah Palin is in revolt, its reported, angry that John McCains handlers forced her to wear haute couture; that shes not been able to be herself before the media; and that Republican campaign strategy -- like the decision to give up on Michigan -- is askew.
....
It's all about the political makeover of the Republican Partys new great hope.
For many senior Republicans, Obama appears sure to prevail Nov. 4 ...
Advice is already incoming: She should at all costs avoid running for Congress, writes Ron Bonjean, former communications director for Speaker Dennis Hastert and Senate majority leader Trent Lott.
If Palin ran for the Senate, she quickly becomes part of the establishment, he says, advising her to return to Alaska where she can remain politically active as its chief executive, yet still build on her new-found fame.
He also suggests party chiefs should surround Palin with the brightest people, meaning they cannot be friends or neighbours with questionable qualifications.
In what would mark a strategic shift in the way the party promotes its 2012 candidate, Bonjean says Palin should lead a recruitment drive among people serving in local, city and state offices who could spread the Palin Change message across America.
As for this election, McCains folly at not having picked Mitt Romney as his running mate is now all too apparent as the economy dives. The Republican presidential candidates turn southward in the polls mirrored the mid-September shock to the world financial markets, which propelled the economy and its future to the number one concern of U.S. voters.

More and more it seems people are throwing in the towel on this race and looking for a hope in the future, Palin in 2012?
Giving up costs not only a presidency but perhaps a 60 seat majority in the Senate. What we fail to consider is the damage that just 4 years of that situation, i.e., a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, majority in the House, and a no-veto President, in not only legislation, but life-term judiciary ready to legislate from the bench. McCain's people need to back off and let Mccain and Palin do what they know how to do.
Romney is PO’d and he doesn’t forgive easily. Rumor has it that he’s been behind a lot of the negative Palin comments surfacing in GOP circles lately. He’s bitter, he’s liberal, and he’ll probably get a job under Barry.
Further proof that drinking while writing should be against the law.
He also suggests party chiefs should surround Palin with the brightest people, meaning they cannot be friends or neighbours with questionable qualifications.
IOW, STOP her from being who the people LOVE and turn her into a member of the establishment..
IMHO, she needs to continue EXACTLY as she has been, a washington outsider who can OBJECTIVELY see what’s wrong.
You really get a charge out of posting stuff like this, don’t you?
Exactly! Romney is the furthest thing you could get from a team player — all you had to do was listen to the speeches at the Convention — Romney was me, me, me, and Huckabee, Thompson and Rudy were about McCain especially Thompson and Rudy. That spoke volumes.
yeah I agree, and I wonder what the Romney folks believe he would have done to stem the avalanche of bad financial news. As VP candidate or even VP he’s in position to do exactly what? Offer advice. McCain’s up to his ears in financial and economic advice and Sarah Palin’s not giving it to him. Though perhaps her experience at running a family might have some credence here. Don’t spend more money than you make.
I’m still not voting for Romney.
He has a faux conservative from the start groomed to be our “savior” because the power brokers didn’t have a conservative they agreed upon to run against Rudy and McCain once Allen went down.
I’m not impressed by the attacks on Sarah from his camp. Whether she runs in ‘12 or not, he doesn’t have my support.
"You will embrace this rebellion. Support it, from our lands in
the north. I will gain English favor by condemning it and
ordering it opposed from our lands in the south. Whichever way
the tide runs, we will rise."
I agree. I think the others have been pretty good about stepping up and supporting McCain. I think they actually understood that this election was about principles and policies that are vitally important.
What an utterly idiotic thought. Romney would have drive away social conservatives that know what a phony he is. And, in the midst of a financial crisis/bailout the general public blames on Wall Street, the rich and Republicans, Romney would have assured a double-digit loss by McCain.
Meanwhile Romney is tearing McCain\Palin down because despite voter rejection, Romney's still running his own campaign.
Pound. Sand. Repeat.
Better yet, McCain wins, Palin becomes Vice-President, and then in 3 years or so McCain decides not to run for re-election...
don’t be fooled by what is going on.. there is an effort from someone on our side to undermine Palin...
Some of you Romneybots need to get over it — the rest of us who supported other candidates got over it right away. The people that mishandled Palin that are now history around her came out of the Bush/Romney camp.
This article is more of the same from the writers that demanded Romney as the VP. FYI, in February some of us knew Romney was NEVER going to be the VP — no way no how. Sarah was at the top of the list a lot longer then most realize.
Sarah Palin is the perfect VP candidate.
We have Thompson, Rudy, and Huckabee supporters along with a few from Romney all lined up behind Sarah and McCain. Most of us went to McCain long before Palin. Then we have some the so-called conservative writers (aka Romneybots) who cannot stand Sarah. Must admit never heard of this writer though. Wonder which side most conservatives are going to be on today? Give you a little hint — PALIN!
Posting these articles is not helping Romney one bit if he ever decided to run again. Think he could get elected when McCain/Thompson/Rudy/Huckabee people are all disgusted with his lack of support? He has to be dragged to events while Thompson/Rudy have been everywhere. Wonder what Fred thinks about Romney since the leaks from his campaign came from people who went right back to Romney when he dropped out?
Romney seems to have been a pretty big spender and big-government person when he was gov of MA, so I doubt that he would have done much. And the issues in this campaign go way beyond the economic and get into our basic freedoms, so I think he would have been out of his league.
Haha. People throwing in the towel as it tightens? Maybe the cocktail / country club circuit. Not grass-roots conservatives.
We’ll take Palin over Mitt ‘MittCare’ Romney. He also had the least memorable speech of any of the featured guests / candidates at the GOP convention. You can tell he holds a grudge against McCain.
Maybe he’s trying to make himself feel better for wasting millions of his own dollars by sabotaging the McCain campaign.
Exactly, where Romney will probably bitterly cling to OUR guns and bibles.
