Student traveler to Israel launches a unique product for Christians
A student traveler from Atlanta, Georgia took a trip to Israel and came back with a business to benefit the Christian community.
The fruit of that trip is The Grapes of Galilee, wines produced in the historic land where Jesus dwelled.
"The history of this wine is something that we can all share together," says UC San Diego student Adam Haroz, who with his father founded Haroz Vintners. "I hope to provide a way to strengthen the bond between Israel and many other people who may feel disconnected, through bringing wine from Galilee to the houses of the Christian community."
Traveling to Galilee from Jerusalem, Adam Haroz was stunned by the beauty of the countryside and awed by his sense of spiritual connection. Admiring the vineyards, "It occurred to me that there should be a way to share this experience with all people," he says.
It was at a wedding in Galilee where, 2,000 years ago, Jesus is said to have turned water into wine. Grown next to Nazareth by the Sea of Galilee and watered by the Jordan River, the Grapes of Galilee wines are ideal for celebrations such as wedding receptions and communions, or any festive occasions when Christians seek a physical connection to their spiritual homeland.
"When people drink this wine, they are brought to the heights of Mount Tabor overlooking the Jordan River and the Sea of Galilee, and are able to envision Jesus walking from Nazareth through the vineyards of Galilee. They achieve a closer bond with their religion and a closer relationship to the nature of Israel and a deeper understanding of its significance
