Hi FR friends, I need a relatively knowledgeable individual to identify a swing/big band track for me. This track was used as a segue between programs by Armed Forces Radio Network (AFRN) during the Korean War.

It appears at the end of this Armed Forces Radio Network broadcast of the Jack Benny Show. If you're familiar with playing .MP3 music files, you can download the file at the link below and fast forward to the 24:10 minute mark where the music begins.

If someone can name the artist and track title of this song, I'd appreciate it very much. I had originally thought that this track was from the Robert Crosby CBS Orchestra or even perhaps Phil Harris, but I am at a loss to identify the orchestra and song name.

From Old Time Radio Perk (OTRPerk.com) -- The Jack Benny Show, CBS Radio, episode 838 -- Original airdate 03/08/1953:

Jack Benny -- 03/08/1953 (6244784 bytes, .MP3 file)

Right-click link and choose 'Save As...' to a location on your hard drive. The file will play in Windows Media Player (PC) or iTunes (Apple)

The song is “I’ve Got the Sun In the Morning (And the Moon at Night)”. Not sure of the band. Good stuff!

It then segues into “They Say It’s Wonderful.” Not sure on the band, though.

BTW, both songs are from “Annie Get Your Gun” so that may be a clue ... perhaps someone recorded a medley from that musical.

It's "I've Got the Sun in the Morning and the Moon at Night."

It sounds like a studio orchestra version that was arranged for what we today call bump music.

It’s “Next Stop, Pottersville”.

I would think it's Bob Crosby & his orchestra. He was brought onto the Benny Show, in that time range, for his orchestra skills.

Amazes me how many opinions on 55-year-old incidental music.

Best source I've found for information on the program.

Love the old JB shows. Those & South Park. Go figure!

Hi folks. Thanks to everyone for the replies.

Well, it DOES seem that the orchestra is Bob Crosby's Orchestra who was doing shows for AFRS during the time. Also the instrumental selection appears to be cut from a longer recording that featured vocalist Betty Hutton who also did shows for AFRS during haitus from her Broadway show 'Anie Get Your Gun'.

Still trying to track down the original recording.

Will update when I can.

"I find his laugh intoxicating".

It took a few days, but I'm glad someone got it.
