Yes.

It is National Socialism at its “finest”.

Well, I would hope to limit any such “payback” to responsible taxpayers, but then again my mother always DID say I was a dreamer...

I did without a lot of stuff through the years, living off things others throw away, going to the second hand store.

Yeah, I know what you mean. You sound like you're far more prepared than most. My newest vehicle is a '97 pickup truck with 330,000 miles on it. I keep it in top notch condition and because it's a diesel, it'll probably go a million miles or more. My wife gets mad at me because I'm such a pack rat. I blame my Depression era parents for that habit. Over the years, though, I usually find a use for almost everything I save.

One thing is for sure, I firmly believe that there are a lot of folks in this country that are about to find out what "hard times" are really like. In the coming years, those of us who have prepared will fare far better than those who haven't.....

303,824,650
2008 estimate
United States Census International Programs Center

700,000,000,000.00 / 303,824,650 = $2303.96 per person

Double that or more for per tax payer...

A little known feature of google is its calculator function.

I didn't know that. But then again there's a lot I don't know so that's why I hang out here.......

“The District of Columbia has only 26.3% of its land owned by the federal government although it was established as the federal city.”

IRONIC, isn’t it.

Shouldn’t DC be 100% Federally owned? Further, I don’t think there should be ANY “residents” of DC, except the Pres. and his family. Everyone else should be absorbed by Maryland. That’d instantly take care of the whole “taxation without representation” BS I have to listen to on the news all the time.

I just saw a headline on the front page of the Washington Times although I didn't read the article. It that the Democrat bailout package will include --- student car loans. Imagine that. Maybe they'll cover our credit card bills next.

I believe our nation is at a very serious junction in history right now with so many threats from so many directions. The worst threat for Amercians is coming from our own corrupt, insane government. I feel our government is starting to lack any legitimacy.

My Grandparents raised 8 children during the depression. They did not have much but never went hungry. Through the years we found several buried mason jars full of cash. She never trusted banks again.

Granny always said prayers and hard work never hurt no one.

Of course today prayers are not needed and Walmart has everything you need.

I agree with you. At least the people who wish to live there should be made to sign a document that says they recognize the fact that they have no vote in federal eclections. If they don't like that, then they are refused residency.

And having a DC City government is illegal. Congress is supposed to run the city. In fact, Congress used to run the place but has abrogated its responsibility. And no thanks to absorbing DC residents into Maryland. Maryland is already doing that in PG County and look what a mess that's becoming.

Hard times just might be good for the USofA.

Why?

Well, if we are in Hard Times, many of the Illegal Aliens will be feeling it first, so they'll go back home.

If we are in Hard Times, those jobs the Illegals were doing can be worked by real US Citizens who will be happy to earn minimum wage.

If we are in Hard Times, people will have to consider recycling and reusing and making do.

If we are in Hard Times, people just might go outside their little “boxes” and meet their neighbors and then end up helping each other out, creating community (not organized a la BHObama).

If we are in Hard Times, families may become more cohesive and may actually grow to like (or love) each other instead of fighting for the biggest piece of food on the plate.

If we are in Hard Times, our character will be tested and we may grow in integrity, honesty, respect, etc.

If we are in Hard Times, churches and synagogues may see a resurgence of members and a love for God and Country will again become important. Those holding other beliefs will also respect their own beliefs more and develop a deeper respect and love for Country.

A lot of good can come from Hard Times. And as I said previously, if we're in Hard Times and accidentally have BHObama for 4 years in the White House, he can't do diddly-squat to ruin our Nation because we'll all be busy trying to work our way out of Hard Times.

And IF BHObama wins, we can blame him for the Hard Times. He's screwed whether he wins or loses. He thinks he's "The One" and he just may learn that he's really "THE BUTT END" and not "The One" after all.

I crack me up sometimes.

I canned nearly 160 quarts of tomatoes last week.

I did about 60 quarts of 'maters this year and about that many of green beans (pink half runners, aka peanut beans). Lots of corn in the freezer (silver queen white corn and peaches and cream bicolor) and put lots of okra in the freezer this year, too. Still getting a lot of okra now, and a few tomatoes, but the main focus this week is apples and pears. I picked 5, 5 gallon buckets full of apples yesterday. Some of them are sliced and are being dried for hiking snacks and the rest will go into cider. Should have some black walnuts soon, too. I'm hoping I'll finish my greenhouse this week so I can get some winter crops going. The greenhouse is a kit and it's been like putting a giant erector set together.....

I use to love to listen to the stories told by my grandparents about the depression in rural Alabama, they made it but it was no easy task. Life then centered around faith, family and friends, and the stranger who left a beef shoulder on the doorstep one night when they didn't know where the next meal was coming from.

This is your lucky day! The good news is that we are going to have an election soon. Then you and I can vote to throw the (put your own word here) politicians out.

700 billion/300 million = 2333.33333

You know if we could do one of these bailouts EVERY WEEK. Then I might go for it. But it has to be every week...forever....

That would be me getting over 9k per week. Ok

KILL THE BULLSHEET BAILOUT

Where I live, the state spends about $9000 per year per kid on schools.

Since we homeschool our three, shouldn’t the State pay us $27,000 per year?

Heck, I’d even settle for half of that.
