A CNN reporter this week didnt seem to know or care that a fake photo showing a bikini-clad, rifle-toting Sarah Palin had been widely debunked days earlier as a fraud, the latest in series of incidents involving apparent misstatements or inaccurate reporting by the news network.
(John) McCain has been really good about painting (Barack) Obama as this lightweight They dont want that to come back on Sarah Palin, and people say, yes, she looks good in a bikini clutching an AK-47, but is she equipped to run the country? CNNs Lola Ogunnaike said in response to a question on the networks Reliable Sources show, which aired Sunday.
Ogunnaikes remarks, which came in response to a question by host Howard Kurtz about whether Palins status as a political celebrity might undercut Republican efforts to portray the vice presidential nominee as a serious, reform-minded governor, were posted on CNNs Web site and have since been reported and discussed on numerous other independent sites.

Please note that no where is this CNN person corrected on the use of “AK-47” or “assault rifle”. The Fox article writer does not seem to realize it either— that the firearm in the picture is likely an air rifle/pellet gun/.22
I’d hate to lead an assault with that as my weapon LOL.
Robert Reich started working again at CNN as a reporter?
Never mind the dolts at CNN can’t discern an obviously doctered photo from the real thing, they can’t tell an AK47 from a pellet gun.
Oh, and the sweet irony of this all happening on “RELIABLE Sources”
You can’t make this stuff up!
I caught that too. I was more concerned about the bb gun being reported as an AK-47 assault rifle than I was about the fake picture flub
Pretty damning stuff...everybody is talking msbnc...but it is CNN that also rebuked the GOP for the 911 tribute.
We need to go after all of these lying scum DNC operatives posing as journalists and they do their dirty work.
To be specific, the “firearm” in the picture is a Crossman .177 pellet gun/BB gun. You pump up the air reserve by cocking the forearm of the gun.
And if they had asked anyone who has been around guns their entire life, they would have spotted that in a second.
Morons. Nothing but morons as far as the eye can see in the mainstream media.

It appears the reporter may have more knowledge on MTV than with firearms.

Just watched Diane Feinstein try to chastise Heather Nauert about Foxnews’ coverage of the “pig and lipstick” comment and the abortion comment and Heather pretty well put her in her place. Good for her!
Why don't they run the Larry Sinclair story if they want sensationalism?
Maybe the photo of Barack Obama smoking a bong?
Ah - but it was a story flying around on the internet. It’s not their fault that people on the web are talking about it.
Now keep watching CNN and have a nice day....
You have to give her a break. I mean, she made the statement on the Howard Kurtz show, which is a forum for mentally challenged reporters.
I don't get this. Even if the photo were real, so what? What do these clueless twits think they are going to get by publishing a picture of Palin in a bathing suit?
Remember right wing nuts turn out the lights for sex and don’t let their women show ankles. If the right wing nuts had their way, burkas would be back in style. This is the perception of conservatives by the news readers.
Barf alert.
Full Disclosure: I suggest that Juan Cole go to Islamabad or to the Palestinian territories to spread the good news that there is no Allah, and that the people there can be free from the shackles of theocracy.
Cheers!
