Kay Bailey Hutchison cautious in praising Sarah Palin

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison contrasted the full-throated defense of Sarah Palin by some in her party and lowered the bar Wednesday by offering her own statesman-like, cautious praise for the vice presidential nominee.

Asked if Ms. Palin is ready to be vice president, Ms. Hutchison said that "she offers a lot to the ticket. We'll see in the coming weeks how she does, where she goes. And I think she's going to do fine."

I saw an interview the other day with her after she was notified of not being selected VP....she came across flat or at least less then enthusiastic.

I didn’t see anything wrong with her response.

I heard her on 740 AM in Houston today and she seemed very supportive of her. I know KB is a RINO but I am sure the Dallas Morning News is trying to find any division within the Republican Party. The Dallas Morning News wouldn’t try to miquote her or “spin” the story would they?????

I agree. I’ve always regarded KBH as Hillary-lite.

I don’t either, KBH is a very low key woman, which is one of the reasons she was not chosen. She’s also in her 60’s, so her age was not right, but she has never been a cheerleader/firebrand speaker, she has a reputation for being rather mundane, NTTAWWT!

Isn’t she planning a RINO run for the Governor herself?

On the eve of Gov. Palin’s all important speech, KBH talks of Palin as though she was discussing a blemish.

The GOP has to be very, very enthusiastic this week.

I still say Sen. KBH is jealous.

She is a pro-choice MeCain Republican, not a Conservative!

Maybe she’s jealous, I dunno. Sure didn’t seem that way to me. Only opportunity I really thought she missed was when she said Palin doesn’t have Biden or McCain’s experience. True, but she should have jumped all over Obamessiah’s lack of experience.

KBH is a fine person.....but she is a MSM Republican, no doubt.

As a Republican it is the ONLY was to stay in office, get good press, and not be ruined!

She's the past. Palin’s the future. I have no idea what they expected her to say, but KBH was criticized as an “ex-cheerleader” back when she ran for the senate. She knows how the leftists attack.

I think she must have thought she had a chance at the veep slot herself and is somewhat disappointed.

She doesn’t know anything about Palin. She just wants to wait a few weeks to see how good she is. Makes sense.

A meaningless sense of the Senate vote.

National Right to Life counts her a friend on 93.6% of her votes, going back years.
