I have a friend whose goal in life is to make the telemarketers hang up on him. He had one guy from some vitamin co. call him and he led them on and on. He would pretend interest, ask a question and agree to buy. They wanted his credit card and he would start to give it to them and half way through come up with another question. Then he would increase the size of his order. Another question would need to be answered by a supervisor, so he would trot off to ask and come back.

Since he was sitting watching the football game he didn’t mind wasting time dragging it out.... they hung up after 2 and a half hours.

Another friend answers the “how are you today” question by announcing that her husband just died suddenly. That really throws them.

I like to tell them that I sell their product or a competitors, I haven’t had one who could keep trying to make a sale.
