London, England (CNS) - Amy Winehouse doesn't only appear on tabloids these days, a latest survey shows that she also haunts Britons' nightmares.

According to a survey given to 3,500 people conducted by hotel chain Travelodge, the "Rehab" hitmaker is the top public figure that scares her countrymen through their dreams, even beating out eerie Marilyn Manson.

Others who made it to the Top 10 list are Pete Doherty, The Cheeky Girls, Heather Mills, and Simon Cowell. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling are also terrifying the British people.

A separate question also shows that being chased, losing a loved one, being jobless, homeless or broke are common nightmare occurrences in people.

Travelodge's Leigh McCarron explains, "It's no wonder Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling are making a special appearance in our nightmares at the moment, both symbolize the fears we are facing in today's economy."

The respondents claim that they sometimes wake up sweating, in a panic, crying, or shaking when they are having nightmares.

The top 10 public figures who appear in nightmares are:

1) Amy Winehouse

2) Marilyn Monroe

3) Gordon Brown

4) Pete Doherty

5) The Cheeky Girls

6) Simon Cowell / Kerry Katona

7) Cherie Blair

8) Jodie Marsh

9) Heather Mills

10) Alistair Darling

For some reason Marilyn Monroe never creeped me out.

It’s that stupid Elton John song, “Candle in the Wind”, that creeps me out. Norma Jean was beautiful but troubled.

What’s the dream, that while you’re at work she breaks into your house and steals all of your expensive scotch & wines?

She had such perfect features; her face is very symmetrical, which is something that classifies a Great Beauty.

Too bad she was so badly used by the people in her life. (Not Joe, though; I think he really loved her.)

LOL!

I was curious, too. I mean, who the h#ll dreams about Heather Mills? And politicians? I have NEVER had a dream involving a politician; not even politicians I’ve worked for.

Well, the British are different than you and me, LOL!

My scary dreams are about being trapped in small spaces. But in waking life, I’m not the least bit claustrophobic. I’ve spent long days in foxholes, inside of tanks, inside snow shelters, two-man tents, etc.; no problems at all. (Hiding under my desk at work from my boss. LOL! Just kidding!)

But in my dreams, I’m stone-cold TERRIFIED in situations like that, and staircases are always closing up behind me, or hallways are getting smaller and smaller out to infinity. It’s weird.

My Brain. It really takes good care of me, LOL!

Some of these are nightmares but some could be (ahem) other types of dreams.
