So you choose to come onto a thread, knowing full well from its title, that it speaks to a totally different worldview than your own, and feign offense.

[aahhhhh the who speed of light thing.... I am no scientist.. but correct me if I am wrong the speed of light depends on atmospheric conditions correct? -— I believe that the speed of light was MUCH FASTER when God spoke the light into exisitence and was SLOWED DOWN to roughly its current rate when the 6 DAY project was complete..]

Yikes, your lack of basic science is astounding. While the speed of light slows when transmitted through a physical medium (like glass), it is still so fast that any conceivable correction to the cosmic distance of Stars you are hinting at still gives you multiple orders of magnitude (that is thousands of times) the 6,000 year time frame of creation.

Through a vacuum, such as space, the speed of light doesn’t vary very much even given interstellar gases etc. The local way we can confirm the speed of light for laymen is that it takes our radio transmissions around ten minutes to make it to our Mars explorers. Beyond that, even if you neglect red-shift arguments, simple triangulation gives you huge distances for even the nearest stars, and hence huge time frames.

By missing the glory of the universe by squeezing it into a 6000 year timeframe, you are squeezing God down as well. People with science backgrounds aren’t all atheists you know.

again you ASSUME that the conditions that determine the speed of light were the same on DAY 1 of creation as it IS on DAY 6 -—— sounds like you are the one “limiting” God... I prefer to take God at His Word... we are wayyy off topic here now -— I don’t care if we have a debate about how long Humans have been wearing shoes..... but the article ASSUMES that the 40,000 year crap is FACT... I would be ok with a discussion/debate on whether or not Adam and Eve wore shoes ... just leave out the 40,000 year FANTASY..

You have ruined a nice science thread with your inconsiderate witnessing.

Why don't you go back to the Religion Forum and witness there?

Never argue with crazy people. 40,000 years ago isn’t all that far back. I was involved with Yucca Mountain where they have to reconstruct 100,000 years of weather history. They do that in part by going back through the layers of rat middens. They do it by reconstructing eruption sequences. Heck, they even have evidence in the Amargosa Valley cave pupfishes that were stranded from when Death Valley was a vast lake (a long time before 6000 years). And we have a couple mummified bodies in the state that are 9,000 years old.

So, every day and in every way 6,000 years is a position no one believes in.

Imagine being the first shoe salesman:

Neanderthal Salesman: Madam, I know it’s a little uncomfortable, but it’s the latest thing. Imagine the envy of all your friends. And they are on sale!

Woman: I’ll take three pair.

Like Spirit Cave Man who is 9,400 years old. The oldest mummy ever found in the Americas.

To: blam; All

Does anyone know if enough skeletons from pre 40,000 years ago exist to make a valid comparison?

Wrong !!!!

The 24 hr period is man's way of explaining God's time frame. God never actually mentioned man's time frame, just his own. Common sense and a little logic explains it all.

“Oh really, so I guess I am the only one on the planet that has ever mentioned it.... keep your blinders on my FRiend -— I will pray for you.. “

Somewhere I missed the memo that says “Ye be only saved if you believe the earth is 6000 years old.”

Good thing you don’t do science or engineering for a living, you’d be dangerous. Global warming outcomes are predicted on the reconstruction of many hundred thousand and million year cycles. Nuclear waste engineering that I’ve been involved with requires assessments of hundred thousand year old weather patterns.

I think we know who wears the binders. You barely know what the speed of light refers to, heaven help me if I have to get into Lorenz contracton.

Never mind the geologic record of volcanoes, sediment layers, erosion, diamonds, tectonic plate movements, fossil record, etc.

I think Dave is redefining what the term “fact” means to suite his ridiculous argument which is designed to stir up religous debate or illustrate his exemplary faith.

Davie boy, heaping ridicule on ones self by demonstrating near insane like ignorance (which I doubt you truly believe and no I don’t care if you do) does not make you look any more faithful than I believe you to be. It simply makes a mockery of your faith to those who do not know the good book.

I’ve encountered your type a few times and I know for a fact argument is what you seek and somehow that comforts you in reaffirming your faith by enduring what you imagine is persecution of your faith. It is not and in reality you just look silly by foisting such a ridiculous claim on us all.

“Primitive” doesn’t mean “stupid” like so many people like to think.

God put shoes on Earth and then created man to wear them. There....solved the problem with respect to science and religion.
