Before anyone jumps on me, lol yes I have read the Treo 650 user's guide, but it lacks the specificity I need.
I know that in "telephone" mode, I can press and hold the 0 key, and it becomes "+," i.e. the equivalent of 011, and that I now am in international dialing mode.
However, in messaging mode, in the "To:" field, I cannot get the + symbol to appear the same way. If, while in that field, I press and hold 0, all I get are a string of 0s.
The T-Mobile person (I'm using the Treo with T-mobile, even though the Treo itself says Cingular) thinks I should do a double asterisk (**) prior to the country code.
Is that right? HOw do I tell the To: field, when messaging, that my destination is an international number? Thanks.
man, what language are you speakin?
I hate my 650! But its free from work so I don’t complain.
Geek
I think it’s Nerd.
Why not just enter “011” before the number? It should work just as well as the “+”.
Well, I don’t have a Treo, but in my Samsung, you don’t need a (+) sign to dial an international number.
Just enter 011, the country code, drop the first 0 in most international numbers, and then dial the rest of the number.
Do you have the number saved in your contacts correctly? If so, can’t you just pick a contact when you text? I don’t know if it will work, but....
Good idea. However, here’s the problem: I still run into the issue of inputting the number for the contact record. The field for the phone number for the contact record is the same as the field for text messaging, i.e. I can’t press and hold 0 and have it turn into a + sign.
Thanks. Here’s what I found:
- if I try the 011 prefix in “phone” mode, it doesn’t work. I get the “your call cannot be completed” recorded message
- if I create a contact, and preface the country code and city code and number with 011, IT WORKS!!!!
Thanks, I appreciate it.
