You gotta take it all in, you know? Because it was no time at all ago, less than a year, and Hillary Clinton's presidential nomination was pretty much a given, and even I was relatively thrilled and gung-ho for her candidacy, especially given how she was so ahead in the polls and so ahead in fund raising and so ahead in public opinion her imminent nomination felt much like a slam dunk, a forgone conclusion, a sure thing.
And therefore it was all something rather otherworldly for progressives, a bit unprecedented, a Democratic race to watch only for the sheer historic value and for the surprising quality of the other candidates involved, and not because there was any doubt as to the eventual outcome.
Just a bit beyond incredible, then, what has happened since, in such a short time, in this, one of the more fascinating turning points in American history.
It almost cannot be understated: Barack Obama's steady, astounding, almost inexplicable rise to the top to not only become the presumptive Democratic nominee but also to overtake one of the strongest, smartest, most well-funded, tenacious rival candidates in American history and also to out-poll his deeply connected Republican opponent is both remarkable and historic on a number of fronts.

Morford having an Obamagasm.
Nauseating...but thoroughly predictable.
Oh, just say it, Marky. He makes you hot hot hot. You want to bite his pillow, singing "Wake Me Up Inside!!"
Or maybe it's his remarkable, idealistic team of aides, his hotshot fresh-faced speechwriters, his wondrous oratory skill. Is it the cool campaign posters? Is it the game-altering speeches on race in America?
"Yooooo dooooo sahmthing to me..... sahmthing that simply mystifies me... tell me.... why should it be.... you have the power to hypNOTIIIIIIIIZE meeeeee!"
Some feel Obama will not survive. There are those who think something violent and lethal is bound to happen to him and not merely because he's black, but because he's too revolutionary, too much a force for harmony and peace, and the forces of darkness and oppression in America...simply cannot have that.
"Your own.... personal.... Jesus.... Reach out and touch me! (pant pant pant)"
That would be the worst nightmare ever for conservatives.
This Chicago machine hack would then become suddenly apotheosized into a martyred political god.
I hope Obama lives to be 100.
The MSM made Obama just like they made Evita... only it was able to sell more ‘newspapers’ promoting him than her. The MSM probably feels like they have finally redeemed themselves for foisting Evita (and the Clintons-generally) on the American voting public. By promoting Obama (never mind how shamelessly biased this process has been) the MSM is probably feeling like so much less the whores they have been for so long and in fact, really are. It's all about them, only the rest of us will have to pay for their indulgence.
... Even if it was a Black liberal who killed him, shouting "You said you'd end the war, world hunger, and low inner-city school scores!!"...
... Even if it was a gay Black liberal who killed him, shouting "You said you'd end the war, world hunger, low inner-city school scores, and hate crimes!!"...
... Even if it was a gay Black anti-gun liberal who stabbed him, shouting "You said you'd end the war, world hunger, low inner-city school scores, hate crimes and gun violence!!"...
... Even if it was a crippled Black lesbian anti-war tree-hugger who stabbed him with the sharpened end of her cane, yelling "You said you'd end the war, world hunger, low inner-city school scores, hate crimes, gun crimes, and global warming!!"...
... Conservatives would still be blamed. Somehow, we prevented Obama from ending war, crime, and pollution, and drove that poor activist (who was undoubtedly recruited and brainwashed by Karl Rove) to desperate measures.
It couldn’t be that Hitlery is such a beeatch that even liberals hate her?
In retrospect, Hillary ran a lousy campaign and her team made a lot of errors.
But, with the “inevitable” thing, I think her support was a mile wide and an inch deep. Dems. were willing to support her and curry favor with the Clintons based on that inevitability. But the Clintons were hardly loved by many Democrats. The Clintons just didn’t get a lot of long term loyalty from Dems. The Dems. were willing to stick with her because of being inevitable not because they ever really liked her in the first place.
Once the bubble burst on inevitability, the Rats deserted Hillary like she was a sinking ship.
For all of Bill’s political skills, the Clintons just didn’t have their loyal backers/super delegates/elected officials behind them once the inevitability bubble burst.
Heck I wonder how much of Obama’s support is really for him, and how much was the ABC (Anybody But Clinton) vote.
Well I'm goin to tell you Mark.. The eye rollers and droolers glomed on to the phrase "CHANGE".. They don't know what that change is and probably don't really CARE.. All they know is that they want CHANGE.. And Obama OWNS the word..
I have an "IDEA".. FILL IN THE BLANKS.. let the people know what those changes WILL BE... Ugh OH!., all three of them are hiding the changes they are planning.. There are really NO ONE to outline the changes in store BY ALL THREE OF THEM..
People that advancing McLaim have no idea the changes he has planned.. especially with a democrat LOCK on Congress.. All they say AND HOPE is that he will be "better" than the other two.. WHat better is there is no way of knowing..
Except JOhn McLaim will give the veneer that its the republican party DOING the heinous acts of the future Congress.. YET the pubbies will get BLAMED for it ALL...
AT least if theres any republican left in the party..
I’ve lived through it three times. In 1972, it was the McGovern campaign. In 1976, it was the Carter campaign. In 1992, it was the Clinton campaign. All of these involved long-shots who won the party nomination.
There are those who think something violent and lethal is bound to happen to him and not merely because he's black, but because he's too revolutionary, too much a force for harmony and peace...
Yeah, Markie, we're all against peace and harmony, dontcha know. Can't stand 'em. We'd have to kill anybody who stood for peace and harmony.
This sort of gushing drivel gives drama queens a bad name.
Good question. They'll be deserting him in droves too once they see his weakness boldly defined by the election process. It'll probably bring out the snippy worse in him -- a thin shelled Marxist American hater. But if America forgives him for his ideological sins then the communist virus has sunken deep within the skin through the liberalism of the past. The 60s experiments will then have paid off.
Hopefully, it won't happen.
