Since this is Merry Old England, perhaps they're not allowed to own a BB gun anymore?
As I recall, one needs a government-issued license to own an air rifle in the U.K.
A daisy wouldn’t do much to a raven.
In the summer of 1972, I attended summer school at a private school in Scotland. The school was formed from the estate of a Scottish Laird (Sir Robert Gordon), and most of the buildings were quite old. There was a small chapel at the edge of campus, a long walk from any other of the campus buildings. The walkway was paved, and lined with big trees, which cast so much shade (in the already overcast Scottish summer) that the walkway was dark and gloomy. The chapel was small, built of stone, in a Gothic architectural style. The walkway was attended by a large number of ravens, who perched in the trees, and cackled at anyone walking by. About a dozen were always perched on the chapel roof, and they stared menacingly at anyone who walked to the chapel.
This was absolutely the spookiest place I’ve been....looked like a setting for one of those old Hammer vampire films. It sent chills up my spine. I was on campus for 4 weeks, but only went down to the chapel once.
Sir Robert, by the way, according to local legend, had sold his soul to the devil. He became a madman; there was a secret passageway under the manor house that ran to one of his stables. He locked his wife down there, and kept her there for years.
A BB gun wouldn’t kill a raven. A high-powered air rifle or a 22 would work better.
