Yeah, the LA Times, true to form, ran a big front page feature on selected dead GIs among the 4,000. Every American soldier’s death is a tragedy, and all should be remembered with honor, but this isn’t a celebration of heroes’ lives and sacrifices. It’s exploitation, in that particularly smug and condescending mode that the liberals have of turning everybody into a victim and a token in their anti-victory campaign.

I’m sorry, I just have to take the numbers in context.
How many died at Antietam? Gettysburg? Ypres in WWI (in one day)? Iwo Jima? Okinawa? In the retreat to the Pusan perimeter?
In that context, 4000 in 5 years is extremely low.
Every one is a tragedy for their families, but taken in this context.........
And that 4,000 figure starts before the first bullet was fired. It includes forklift deaths in Kuwait. They are tragic deaths but they do not reflect on “poor planning” by President Bush.
