The term "tholins" was coined by Carl Sagan in 1979 to describe the complex organic molecules at the heart of prebiotic chemistry.

Methane (CH4) and Ethane (C2H6) are only the most basic of hydrocarbons. They are a far cry from what is commonly known as "oil", and are only liquid because of the extreme cold there.

This is not true. The only reason that oil was supposed to be of a biogenic origin is from its ability to rotate light to the left. This, however, is only a very slight rotation and is more consistent with contamination than origin.
