(It's not unilateral - just try saying you're a Progressive Democrat in your typical Evangelical chur)

I think “was” is the operative word.

Stanley Dunham is currently deceased, so I'm not sure how material her religious affiliation would be.
According to a Trib piece, she was an atheist.

I’d just like to know which one he is lying about.
Curiosity I guess.

Further research indicates that Obama's maternal grandfather was raised Baptist and his maternal grandmother was raised Methodist.
Their marriage was not approved of by her family.
They raised Obama's mother in the Seattle area where the family attended a Unitarian congregation.
Obama's mother's favorite high school teacher was an atheist who gave her atheist literature.

I believe she spent most of her life as an atheist.
Hopefully she came to rest on Christ before she passed on.

Id just like to know which one he is lying about. It seems that his mother was raised Christian at first, then Unitarian. She became an atheist as a young adult.

I read long ago that she was an Atheist. Now that Obama is getting closer to the Democrat nomination, she is being referred to as an Agnostic.

Some children are quite sensitive about what names other adults call their mothers ~ aren’t you?

You do realize there is absolutely no need to dehumanize the guy (as there is with the Hildabeast of course).
But if those around him now refer to his mother as an Agnostic and he's not beating them to the ground it may be they've found that safer than calling her an Atheist.
In any case the fellow was raised through his most formative period by his maternal grandparents, not his mother.

Like to add (after reading a detailed article about his mother) that although those around her might have thought she did everything in her power to reject or escape what was sometimes called "Eisenhower Era Conformity" her son has developed into a grown man with essentially Eisenhoweresque vocal qualities.

How about who cares
______________
I want a full accounting of Obama’s ancestor’s religious beliefs going back at least until the beginning of the 19th century.
And if there is one tree worshipper in the mix, I’m going to want to go back another hundred years.
Do I need a sarcasm tag?

Excerpt:
http://www.simplysharing.com/assuringlight/obama.htm
What she really was, as he put it in his 1995 memoir, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, was a lonely witness for secular humanism. He says now, My mothers confidence in needlepoint virtues depended on a faith I didnt possess, a faith that she would refuse to describe as religious; that, in fact, her experience told her was sacrilegious: a faith that rational, thoughtful people could shape their own destiny.
