Ike Turner overdosed on cocaine
Ike had been making a comeback in recent years US soul legend Ike Turner, who died last month at the age of 76, was killed by a cocaine overdose, Californian coroners have established. "We are listing that he abused cocaine and that's what resulted in the cocaine toxicity," said an official at the San Diego County medical examiner's office.
Cardiovascular disease and pulmonary emphysema were also given as "significant" factors in the death.
Turner's daughter Mia said she was shocked by the report.
The singer had waged an "ongoing struggle" with drugs, she said, but the coroner was "overstating the situation".
"Daddy at that point was not doing drugs to the level it leads to believe," she told the North County Times in a telephone interview.
In their heyday Ike and Tina had hits like River Deep Mountain High
The former husband of Tina Turner died at his home near San Diego on 12 December.
Paul Parker, chief investigator at the medical examiner's office, was quoted by The Associated Press as saying hypertensive cardiovascular disease and pulmonary emphysema were also "significant and contributing factors" in Turner's death.
Rising to fame in the 1960s, the musician is best remembered for his musical partnership with Tina.
Their stormy marriage, in which she said he abused her, overshadowed his considerable achievements in popular music.
In his autobiography, he estimated he had spent $11m to support his cocaine habit in the 1970s and 1980s.
Tine rules!!!
Ike foolded alot of people, it seems, including his family about how much drugs he was using, right up to the time of his death. Hard to fool CSI.

I’m shocked.
76 y.o. and cocaine, no surprise there that it ended with death.
In future years, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a similar headline for x42.
Kinda makes you wonder how bad drugs really are for you if you do them every day and only OD at 76.
GOOD!
I'm surprised he made it to 76. That's a bad drug. People who continue to use, rarely live that long.
If he’s not already in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame, doesn’t the overdose qualify him now???????
I met Ike Turner about 16 years ago. He had come in for service on his Lincoln Town Car, he & his three blonde, white lady friends were passing out autographed photos of himself. On each was inscribed the same sentiment: “What’s Love Got To Do With It?...Absolutely Nothing!!”. It was obvious that he was a bitter & scorned man. It was also obvious that he & his lady friends were high too. Sniff...rub-the-nose...sniff-sniff...
He did well living as long as he did.
With clean living, he would have probably made it to 110.
People joked that William S. Burroughs died of the slowest OD in history.
John Entwhistle was able to accomplish that same end in a shorter time frame. < /S >
But it IS possible to have long term cumulative damage (including a silent heartattack that was never treated) and have it be lifelong use that was the cause and not a single event late in life to still be noted as the same result.
Speaking of cocaine use and heart attacks, still wondering what is in Bill Clinton’s medical report. Hillary needs to be careful in damning Obama for his past drug use.
Fixed.
