Well, in a few hours, a few LSU folks will recall with dread the name Greg Frey. Yep, the Buckeye quarterback no one remembers but die-hard Buckeye and LSU fans. The quarterback who led the team to one of the most spectacular comebacks ever witnessed at Ohio Stadium.
As Wikipedia puts it: On September 24, 1988, he rallied Ohio State from a 33-20 deficit in the final four minutes for a 36-33 victory over the ninth-ranked LSU Tigers.
I was at that game in the shoe, urging all the fans who were leaving early to stay put. It was gratifying to see them pour back in as the miracle comeback unfolded. When Bobby Olive made that flying catch in the end zone for the win, I distinctly remember sharing overwhelmingly jubilant joy with thousands of other Buckeyes around me.
The LSU fans who shuffled back to their cars were morose indeed .... it's a long long drive to Louisiana from Ohio. These same fans are now hoping for a dose of that gloom to be heaped upon the carloads of Bucknuts on their way back home from the Dome tonight.
I have some advice for Tiger fans: don't buy the extra beer for the party after the game. The spirit of Greg Frey is with us still.
OSU over Tigers, 24-21.
Buckeyes are stinking fruit...at least so say the indians who named them.
Wow, that Barak Obama can really sing!!
I didn’t care for that anthem. At all.
Keep in mind that LSU also beat VT...only by 41...
You can’t spell lose without L and S....Go Buckeyes!.
The announcers have just declared that the NATIONAL CHAMPION will be crowned tonight.
Sorry about the sarcasm Biggirl...but there are eleven teams in the big 10...maybe they can’t count in that conference or maybe one of the teams is small.
I am an LSU fan and the only concern I have right now is Beanie...if he is Tiger bait that’s all she wrote.
Who was that singing?
Who was that singing?
Of course if LSU wins they will also be the first 2 win time in the game.
ooooo. third down conversion on first possession.
oooooooooo. Bean for 65 yds TD
Big slow Buckeye races past LSU. TOUCHDOWN !!!!!!!!
Buckeyes 7
LSU 0
That was some slow offense, all right. We need more SNAILS like the Beaner.
My big fear, big eleven speed
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Beanie Wells just went through that D like a breached levee.
