Well, in a few hours, a few LSU folks will recall with dread the name Greg Frey. Yep, the Buckeye quarterback no one remembers but die-hard Buckeye and LSU fans. The quarterback who led the team to one of the most spectacular comebacks ever witnessed at Ohio Stadium.
As Wikipedia puts it: On September 24, 1988, he rallied Ohio State from a 33-20 deficit in the final four minutes for a 36-33 victory over the ninth-ranked LSU Tigers.
I was at that game in the shoe, urging all the fans who were leaving early to stay put. It was gratifying to see them pour back in as the miracle comeback unfolded. When Bobby Olive made that flying catch in the end zone for the win, I distinctly remember sharing overwhelmingly jubilant joy with thousands of other Buckeyes around me.
The LSU fans who shuffled back to their cars were morose indeed .... it's a long long drive to Louisiana from Ohio. These same fans are now hoping for a dose of that gloom to be heaped upon the carloads of Bucknuts on their way back home from the Dome tonight.
I have some advice for Tiger fans: don't buy the extra beer for the party after the game. The spirit of Greg Frey is with us still.
OSU over Tigers, 24-21.
17 points in 17 minutes...slooooowwww SEC.
PICK!
Here we go...
Are Ohio State fans beginning to think, Oh geez, not this sh!t again?

It is pretty much over now.
INTERCEPTION LSU!!!! And Boeckman took a huge shot as he threw the ball.
Nice pass. NOT
Way to pick up the blitz O Line!
Boekman through for his life and almost got killed anyway.
What’re YOU doing here?? I figgered you’d be practicing with the Cowboys...
That may be all the points Ohio scores tonight-—depth will settle the game now.
Just a magnificent defensive series, culminating with the interception. I see what you mean.
LSU, not as fast as Georgia, can do the slow grinding down of opposing teams in order to tire them out.
That was straight out of the Florida playbook.
BIG push from the dee line from the Tigers...nicely done.
Of course! We are Buckeye fans.
This was pretty much the same part of the game it fell apart against us last year.
Are there any tight ends in the big eleven?
LOL!!
And having watched last year’s championship game, I am getting a sense that it is happening again.
Even if LSU scores a TD here , Ohio State does not need to make the mistake of abandoning the running game. That is LSU’s achilles heel. That is how arkansas beat them, they just ran straight at them all night. Ohio State has the running back to do that in Wells.
