Fridley Teen Helps Revive Collapsed Referee FRIDLEY, Minn. (AP) ― A quick-thinking Fridley teen is being credited with helping save the life of a high school boys' basketball referee who collapsed during a game.

It happened Thursday night when Fridley was playing Simley.

Spectator Lindsey Paradise, 16, had looked away from the game when she heard her mother gasp and saw the official, Dale Wakasugi, 49, on the ground, motionless.

"She flew from the stands and slid on her knees right up to him," her twin sister, Alyssa, said. "Just by looking at her, you could tell that she was in a zone."

After four rounds of CPR didn't work, Lindsey called on her training in operating a defibrillator that she received through the Fridley police youth Explorer program.

Alyssa Paradise said the gym was so quiet she could hear the defibrillator's voice prompts echoing throughout the building.

Lindsey put one defibrillator pad on Wakasugi's chest, and another good Samaritan put one on his side. Wakasugi was shocked and started to come around. He regained a pulse.

No mention of homeschooling in the article or video. Looks like not everyone in public school is bad, though. Thanks for posting this.

Wonder if this young lady and her sister would like to meet some nice young GI’s? ;)
