The novel is a classic that’s been stolen from a lot (”Night of the Living Dead”, etc.). WB has been trying to do a big-budget version for years. For a long time Ahnuld was attached. But Will Smith got the movie made. The script was okay, I’m curious about this one.

Actually, from the trailers, it looks like it might actually be good. Closest version to the book of the three versions. I might just dig out my old copy and reread it.

I'd like to see a remake and a well done version of A Boy And His Dog.

The Omega Man terrified me. I have no desire to see the new version--I'm not good at this sort of movie at all. In fact, I don't even want to think about it!

Read the book... caught parts of the original movie. Should be worth a ticket...

Always thought 'the Omega Man' was a good movie(potentially an important one), a good role for Heston, and a great idea deserving a much bigger budget, and have said so in conversation over the last ten years.
I might have cast Mel Gibson, Tom Selleck, or Pierce Brosnan as Neville.
The original centered alot on the ideological conflict between Western Civ./Technology culture and possible consequenses vs. critics of all that. One problem is that the latter were presented as mere murderous mutant insane religio-cult fanatics. Too cartoonish.
Also, a remake could examine some of the other factional fanaticisms that one might encounter in a post-apocalyptic world.

I think its being redone because its good material that hasn’t been treated well on the screen.
The Vincent Price version of the movie was not done well.
I liked the Omega Man, but it was too 60s-ish. It left lots of room for improvement. I believe it also deviated from the book by quite a bit.
I might actually go see this one. Will Smith wouldn’t have been my choice, but he is a credible actor, so this could be good.

As I said on an earlier thread, the trailers for the movie are confusing. He's been the only human on earth for three years, yet he still has fresh gasoline for his car, and electricity for his treadmill?
