"CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about? Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage. Consumers don't want expensive produce. Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs.
I've posted this several times before and will continue to do so.
My own work experience and some very simple (but accurate) statistical research has proven to me beyond any doubt whatsoever that the wage rate for unskilled laborers in the construction business has dropped by roughly 50 percent since the late 70's. Most if not all of this reduction is due to competition from illegal aliens who now dominate the unskilled labor market, and work for about 1/2 what they should be paid according to almost any wage or price comparison used in other labor markets.
I heard Fred Thompson on tv say that the “final immigration bill was a good one.” He threw it out there in a discussion about Romney or Rudy. I knew it. He’s for shamnesty, no matter what he’s been saying.
