I had no idea until today from that spaceflightnow article. I thought most meteorites are from old comets that decayed and earth passes through their debris trails. Well, that leaves 95% for those.

And a few are from Mars and the Moon, generated by impacts. Of course, you figure that those asteroids bang into each other somewhat frequently in an astronomical sense, which has to generate fragments.
