DEKALB, Ill. - Media reports say spectators have been injured after a monster truck crashed into a crowd during a demonstration in DeKalb. WDKB in DeKalb is reporting that the truck was doing a jump during the demonstration and lost control, hitting the crowd and eventually landing on a set of railroad tracks. Ambulance crews are on the scene and several people have been taken to area hospitals. Train traffic through the northern Illinois town has been halted. DeKalb police would only say that a "major incident" happened downtown.

Stand by for more nanny state rules and regulations.
Just waiting for the "it's Bush's fault..." response from some liberal nut-job commentator....
Was it the “Gravedigger” truck?
Nobody has ever been killed at a monster bicycle demonstration.
lol - but no info yet - maybe “bonecrusher”
“Stand by for more nanny state rules and regulations.”
Bingo!
Every time I hear about an accident, that is exactly what I think.. here comes another set of nanny state rules and regs.
Seems we have forgotten what an “accident” was.

Has a monster ambulance arrived yet?
“People standing around” pictures. Next to a railroad track. They might as well have left the chopper home.
The only government rule we need to deal with this sort of thing is one prohibiting one penny of public money being spent on medical bills for anyone over 18 who gets injured doing or watching something stupid. If you’re going to hang around drag races, monster truck demonstrations, motorcyle daredevil contests, etc., you should be prepared to pay the price.
And private health insurers should not be prevented by the government from offering coverage for this sort of stupidity as a separate coverage item, so that those of us who don’t engage in this sort of thing — as participants or as spectators — don’t have to subsidize those who do. I don’t want to be paying for other people’s deliberate stupidity adn thrill-seeking through higher premiums any more than I want to be paying for it through higher taxes.
Thanks for the link!
They don’t let dummies drive monster trucks that cost upwards of $100,000. No, this was an accident plain and simple. I hope that it is taken as just that and no new regs put in place. These events are awesome to behold, even if admission is free. Do what you want to do at your own risk. It’s the same thing as going to Marble Canyon and watch somebody attempt a vertical wall climb in a Jeep. I mean, come on. It’s sports and there are risks to everyone involved.
That being said, my heart goes out to all those hurt in this tragedy.
Yeah. Like those idiots who sit in the line of fire in the outfield at baseball games? Death to smallball fans!
Really, I’m not too concerned about too many regulations of giant pieces of machinery performing stunts with crowds nearby. Call it nanny state if you want, but it makes sense to me.
It shows the scene of the accident and the truck involved. That's enough for me. I don't need to see the mangled bodies of the children to get the gist of the story.
Gas is still too cheap.
Please forgive me Lord but that was funny.
9 injured, 6 of them children children, no serious injuries per top of the hour abc news radio report..
