How to post Gannett articles title/link??

Posted on 05/31/2007 5:40:07 AM PDT by iowamark

Perhaps someone could clue us in on how to post titles and links of Gannett articles properly and legally.

This is causing much confusion.

The FR software will not let us put a Gannett paper link as source. It says "Not Allowed."

If you leave the "Body of Thread" box blank it says "Body of Thread required."

Thanks for any advice!

Go ahead and post the headline. Insert the url into the thread body (nothing else). The Forum software will not allow you to post without something in the body. Add your comment #1. Click ‘Abuse’ and a Mod will edit the thread to include your link in the top box, if you so desire. That’s about it.

If you leave the "Body of Thread" box blank it says "Body of Thread required."

Spell "Cheese," "Moose" and "Sister" (no quotes and no spaces) backwards in the "Body of Thread" box. Also, make sure the "beeber" radio button is pressed in before clicking "P0st."

I am not a lawyer, but here is my understanding - According to some court decisions, if there is an issue about referring to a particular article, it may be better to use a plain URL without an active link. The URL can be copied and pasted into the browser location window, and avoids the issue of deep linking that some sites object to.
