Earlier this morning we relayed the story from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Josh Hancock was seen drinking heavily at a local St. Louis restaurant hours before getting into a fatal car accident early Sunday morning.

That story was soon pulled off the P-D's servers, and then later re-published with even more info -- such as the fact that Hancock's accident on Sunday was actually his second in three days.

Well it's very clear to me that all professional athletes should be required to have vehicles equipped with breathalyzer ignition interlocks. No blow/No go.

Why aren't there more Blacks in major league baseball?

I remember one night in San Francisco, the Los Angeles Dodgers were in town to play the Giants. They were staying in the Hilton downtown, and several players were in the bar until it closed at 2 am. One of the worst offenders was the starting pitcher for the next day. When asked if it wasn’t past their curfew, the reply was “Oh, we don’t have a curfew as long as we win.” The next day that starting pitcher was bombed for 4 runs in the first inning. I remember it well, because I have all their autographs and my friends were buying them drinks all night long. Of course, we never told them we were all Giants fans.
