Authorities said a man who escaped from a southern New Jersey prison more than 30 years ago was arrested this week after he was found hiding in a closet in the Bay Area.
The U.S. Marshals Service said James Quisenberry was captured in Union City Tuesday after escaping from Cumberland County's Leesburg State Prison, now Bayside State Prison, in June of 1974.
The U.S. Marshals Service said a new investigation into the case was initiated in March 2004.
Since then, investigators said they followed leads developed in Kentucky, Texas, Nevada and California.
Investigators said Quisenberry lived under assumed names.
The break in the case came when investigators learned his female acquaintance was selling a car previously owned by Quisenberry.
Investigators acted like potential buyers, according to NBC11.
They moved in to make the arrest after they heard a male voice in the background during a call about buying the car.
Investigators said they found Quisenberry hiding behind clothes in a closet.
They said he was arrested without incident.
An extradition hearing will decide if Quisenberry, who was convicted of aggravated assault with the intent to commit murder in relation to an armed robbery, can be sent back to New Jersey.
He is being held in the Alameda County lockup.

LOL. He speaks for the trees!

ROFL
How does he get his crack pipe under all that fur?
Geez... after thirty some odd years I think I'd have put myself in the "gotten away with it" category. I guess he did, too.
I saw something pop out of the stump
of the tree I´d chopped down. It was sort of a man.
Describe him?...That´s hard. I don´t know if I can.
He was shortish. And oldish.
And brownish. And mossy.
And he spoke with a voice
that was sharpish and bossy.
Mister! he said with a sawdusty sneeze,
I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees.
When he has a runny nose, it's three days before he realizes it.
Lorax bump!
LOL

It is obviously a food storage compartment in case of an emergency.
What took them so long to look in that closet?
