As if Florida doesn't have enough problems, why do they want to keep alligators around?

You can't shoot alligators, can you? I mean legally.

I always believed that the only alligators should be on the alligator farms and in the zoos.

In this part of Texas there is a Alligator season, first 2 weeks of September.

We have a permit lottery for open season - each geographic area issues a site specific number of permits.

Actually there's a little 4-5 footer in the pond about 20' from where my car is parked right now.

They actually do have a legal alligator hunting season. Apparently they need to kill more, judging by the gator/human conflicts I keep reading about.
