Guns N' Roses without Slash is just N' Roses...
Which is why the two of them should get together atain. They're depriving us of some great music.
Velvet Revolver and Audioslave and Van Halen after Roth are essentially the same band: A bunch of really talented guys who don't gel the same way the original group did.
I was a big fan of Rock Star: Supernova, and really liked most of the contestants (especially Storm Large and Toby Rand). They sang backed by the magnificent, airtight House Band for the members of Supernova (Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke, Jason Newsted). When winner Lukas Rossi won the competition, he sang two songs written by the guys in Supernova with the group. The songs were awful, and none of the individual in the band distinguished themselves musically.
It occurred to me that while Lee, Clarke, and Newsted were integral parts of the bands that made them famous, none could be described as the driving force. Nikki Sixx was the driving force of Motley Crue. Obviously, Rose was the boss of Guns N' Roses. James Hetfield is the voice and the soul of Metallica. Talented as they are, the guys in Supernova were smaller pieces in their respective puzzles, and IMHO, they don't fit together.
