I have what I believe is the identity of the person that Rep. Mark Foley instant messaged.
I will be working on the story today and will present my findings tomorrow. I will put out a press release later today outlining what I will reveal on Wednesday October 4th at 4pm Central Time. I have contacted several bloggers to check my finding and verify that they are indeed accurate. I have also sent emails to major media and two United States Representatives. This will be a major news story and there is the possibility that this story will not be well received by the major news media. More updates throughout the day. I'm afraid you're right. I read a little bit of the IM transcripts yesterday. It was very creepy, looking into the mind of a pervert.
• In 1983, then-Democratic Rep. Gerry Studds of Massachusetts was caught in a similar situation. In his case, Studds had sex with a male teenage page — something Foley hasn't been charged with.
Did Studds express contrition? Resign? Quite the contrary. He rejected Congress' censure of him and continued to represent his district until his retirement in 1996.
• In 1989, Rep. Barney Frank, also of Massachusetts, admitted he'd lived with Steve Gobie, a male prostitute who ran a gay sex-for-hire ring out of Frank's apartment. Frank, it was later discovered, used his position to fix 33 parking tickets for Gobie.
What happened to Frank? The House voted 408-18 to reprimand him — a slap on the wrist. Today he's an honored Democratic member of Congress, much in demand as a speaker and "conscience of the party."
• In 2001, President Clinton, who had his own intern problem, commuted the prison sentence of Illinois Rep. Mel Reynolds, who had sex with a 16-year-old campaign volunteer and pressured her to lie about it. (Reynolds also was convicted of campaign spending violations.)

We need to know that.
As soon as his name is revealed there is going to be a big strain on Google's computers as everyone tries to find out his background. Any blog entries or bulletin board posts that he's ever made will be discovered and he will be "outed" big-time. I'll also bet that he will be shown to be a Dem operative, and once their sordid little plan is revealed they will be sorry they ever brought up this affair.
The House also needs to call these "kids" back to DC and put them under oath to determine what they were up to and what other Members were involved.
Much as Chandra Levy and her family thought it quite exciting to be involved with a married man....after all he was a congressman.
We all know it was just Barney Frank living out his young page fantasy on the ohter end of the keyboard and leanin on the chat record button. Barney Frank was the one wearing the page costume.
See this whole Foley thing was just an effort to put the partisan politics behind us and reach out across the aisle........................
I heard on another post that a Democrat handed the IM History to ABC News.
Please notify me when either of you publish your findings. I would be more than happy to assist spreading the word about this... All the facts need to be known, IMHO. If this was a set-up then it just makes the problem worse. Not that I have any compassion for Mr. Foley if the allegations are true (even if he was abused as a kid), but to use this as a political tool is also a serious thing, especially when the stakes for this country are so high this coming November.
