2nd commercial break - tissues still in my hand. Wow. Loved the story of their meeting and honeymoon, even though I'd heard it all before.
Hadn't heard about the thousands of bugs on Terri's first visit to the outback - and the huge bats that came and ate the bugs right out from in front of her, lol.
It all sounded miserable to me, egad. But Terri was made for Steve because she loved it! Even thought it was magical and romantic up there!
Funny, seeing her older pix - since I hadn't seen her at that stage of life - only had seen Steve thru the years - she had grown to look more like him ... hair lighter, facial mannerisms I can see that she got from him. She really worshipped the ground he walked on.
FWIW, she did mention her faith in God at the first of the show.
Oops, they're starting again.
Well, in Steve's case I can see that he might have wanted it shown. He and his family have the most public of lives, with even their most intimate moments, the births of their own children, shared with the world. About the only part of his life not captured by a camera crew is what went on in the bedroom, and who knows what might be in their private collection.
Personally, I think the footage of the event that caused his death would be too painful to watch, but if it was ever appropriate to show such a tape, it would be of Steve Irwin.
His love for animals was infinite. Their love for each other immense.
To know Steve was to be a child again and again.
God bless Terri, the children and may Steve forever rest in peace.
"Bindi's often saved Daddy from parrots."
I love it.
(Gulp in throat) "I lost my prince."
I really believe this is why she wanted to do this interview.
eyes to water blurred to see either screen here.
"I wouldn't be able to watch, it would be too painful."
Neither will I not do I have a desire to watch it.
Terri's decision not to make the tape public is her decision and is the right one, exactly as I wanted to be. But I disagree with some who, early on, had wanted the tape destroyed. But, again, it's Terri's decision, not ours, as you pointed out.
Little "Robert" getting the screwdriver. She tells him to walk carefully with it, point down (that's why she made that statement the other day about running with a pencil!) ... he walks slowly and carefully out to the motorbike.
She asks him what he's doing - he says he's "fixing" it. She asks "Why?" "Robert" (as Terri calls him) says, "So Daddy can ride it around Heaven."
Terri is so genuine, like Steve. It is no wonder that they worked so well together. My heart breaks for her, but she is right that she is blessed. She had the kind of romance and marriage that most of us only dream about, and the memories she has to cherish will last a lifetime.
Thanks for the ping. It's starting here in Denver in about 10 minutes. Saw a preview of it on O'Reilly tonight when I was at my parents. I already know from that clip to get the Kleenex ready.
That one got to me too.
She certainly is. Gosh, I have seen so much of this in the promos. Don't know where the home movies are they talked about - maybe those few brief clips in this last segment.
On telling Bindi: We understand grief. We will live with grief. But we won't be victims of this grief. "We will be Wildlife Warriors, just like Steve Irwin." Bindi cried and cried and cried.
Here we go - Bindi now.
Ah. So sweet. Minus the rollercoaster part it's how my dad described the marriage to his first wife.
That was a pretty good interview, and I don't think I've seen any interviews by Barbara Walters before.
She was not her usual obnoxious self, thank goodness.
Adding to previous post--she's still a phony balony though.
I'm glad she sat back and let Terri talk.
I think they were using "home movies" ironically. The home movies are the Crocodile Hunter shows.
That is really funny!
My favorite part:
When Terri first met Steve, he told her he had a girlfriend...
