I cannot believe that Angelina Jolie, Saint UNICEF herself, has been chosen to play Dagney Taggert. It's ironic if not moronic. I'm not really a Rand follower, but I think if she were alive today Rand would pull the plug on this casting.
I realize Jolie is just an actress, and nice eye candy, but she's also basically a socialist. And when someone in the public eye chooses to lend their name to a cause or endorses a set of values, it colors the way the public recieves their work.
Finally, I believe that the core audiance for this film will be Rand's hardcore readers. They will probably be completly outraged. Somebody start the boycott clock.

An actor's job is to be someone they aren't. It's what they get paid for. Relax, eh?

If she can keep her big mouth shut and not pretend to be an geopolitical analysis that needs to inform us poor slobs of her apparent brilliance and just act and do it well, I have no problem with her being cast as Dagney Taggert.

"Finally, I believe that the core audiance for this film will be Rand's hardcore readers. They will probably be completly outraged" I don't know anything about her politics, but if she's really a Rand fan, she's not a socialist. She at least comes off as a good personality fit with Dagney.

Liberals have a funny way they interpret things. Who can read the First Amendment and think that it protects the right to expose oneself in public but does not protect someone from saying a prayer in public?

I would be more concerned with who writes the screenplay than with who does the acting.

If Jolie really thinks she's a Rand Fan, she really exposes herself to be totally toopid.

She's been selected for a movie role, not for president.
A bit of perspective here.

Angie, World Woman, would've been fit to be tied had she gotten her tattooed latitudes/longitudes of her childrens' birthplaces wrong--to later learn that they were actually coordinates like Peoria or Cincinnati. World Woman would have gotten a bad case of the vapors.
Black tailor-suited and pearled World Woman is of pseudointellectual type.

I actually think she'll do a great job of acting the role, regardless of her personal views. She is a halfway decent actress, and not just eye candy.

I saw her at some national press event and was surprised at her diplomacy and adeptness at dodging partisan politics statements.
