Really? I think it's a major mistake not to. In '99 Mark James only used 9 players on the first two days, Europe built a good lead, but then got blown away in the singles. Leaving anyone out of the pairs is effectively conceding a point in the singles imo, and there is also an impact if you have too many guys playing all 5 sessions from a mental fatigue point of view.
