It can't be. The only way to reduce gas prices is thru an excess profits tax, tougher gas mileage requirements, or beating up on the oil companies.

I'm sure the Democrats are jumping for joy at the prospect of gas prices under $2.00 just in time for the elections! LOL!

That's good......and bad. Glenn Beck hit this nail on the head last night. This exact same scenerio played out in the late 70's.
High gas prices spurred the US government to invest in alternative fuels to the tune of 200 Billion dollars in todays equal. SHortly after, fuel dropped to sick lows forcing the shutdown of the program.
The middle east wants to keep this gravy train rolling, so they will get the prices down, forcing USA to stop looking for options, then start the game over again.
Here is our future. These Hydrogen cells will not only power your cars, but they will also power your HOUSE and it works right in your garage, about the size of a refridge.

Here in the California desert, even 2.99 would have a line all the way to Arizona...
I paid $3.06 yesterday locally - altho there's a truckstop on the I-10 that shows $2.99 (.)

How do you know the beating up didn't have an effect? I'm sure when these exec's kids come of age in the companies, another crises will occur so that they can get their retirement secured too.

Nice! Can't go wrong with that.
In Richfield (a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis), I saw $2.20 per gallon.
Not as good as your area - but I still like it.
