This is for those interested in discussing a file system for the Duke rape hoax.

An agreed upon "keyword" such as dlx could indicate the thread was part of the Duke rape hoax file system. So entering dlx as a keyword would bring up all threads which are part of the file system.

Another keyword such as dlxtimeline could be designated for the thread which has the timeline information stored.

I would suggest putting all of the relevant information on one or a few home pages of certain users... then we could post a link to their FR home page which would contain the important source documents.

I think organizing this info is a great idea;
in fact, all of these threads (minus some irrelevant
sniping) would make a great "oral history"
of this case. (much better than researching the archives of the N & O!)

I used to cruise the CREVO threads here until they became tryingly repetitive and nasty... But some in those threads had great documentation skills. For instance the grand pooh-bah over there has a profile/FR web page that looks like this

It saves them a lot of time repeating themselves to the newbies...

It certainly a worthwhile idea. It's cumbersome trying to sort the FR threads to find info. Another thing that Abb started doing, and it's very important, is if you're posting an article - Post it in its entirety.

The links age out, sometimes in as little as 15 days.

The Timeline may be a goog place to start. Do a timeline thread with good key words and the right information in the TITLE. Isn't that how the FR search tool works - is on words in the Title?

We are thinking alike. There is no reason not to start now. The nice thing is that if the thread gets unwieldy, you can just reorganize the info, transfer it a new "timeline" file, and delete the old one. We can use the timeline file as a testing ground, seeing what works and what doesn't. I'll post it shortly.

I put four file threads up, which should be enough to see how it's going to work.

Points discovered so far:

1. DLX must be reserved for Duke Lax File threads only. Otherwise, other threads get mixed in.

2. I think it works well to have a specific file keyword, such as DLXDNA, on an active thread dealing with DNA. By clicking on keyword DLXDNA, posters have quick access to the DNA files - both to add links and use as a reference. When a new thread becomes active, then the moderators can remove the DLXDNA from the thread. This will keep the system cleaner.

3. The moderators have been very cooperative in this.

4. You may want to discuss how you want the files titled. For example, perhaps they should be called Duke Rape Hoax Files.

5. That's fine tuning though. The important thing is to encourage everyone to start pouring links into the file threads so we can get it running.

6. As to whether to add DUKELAX on file threads, it won't matter to the DLX file system. You can't hurt the DLX system by adding keywords. You CAN clutter the system if DLX is added to non file threads.

Another thing to consider is whether the files should read DNA - Duke Lax Files dlxdna rather than the way these test models are titled. I tend to favor having the keyword in the title. But that can all be discussed.

If you had a central collection point for any and all links related to the Duke Rape Hoax, and you end up with, say, 1000 links to sort though - how much of a task would it be to sort those into their various files?

I think if people could just have a dumpster for their links, it would simplify things for them. Thoughts?

I tell you what... Send me the links freepmail or otherwise and I'll create a database to keep them in..

I'll give them each a key word for whatever category they are assigned.. i.e. statements, press conferences, video, JNC, Liestoppers, etc..

Each time I get new links I can add them to the database and resort and I'll put them on my FR home page as a web site for the Duke HOAX...

We can even link to critical posts made in specific threads..

I'll gather up the links for the threads already created.. Send me any others you might have... I have several bookmarked that I can add as well...

We'll see how it turns out...

As far as links from past threads - Any thoughts on collecting those? My computer skills are fairly rudimentary, but my sense is that there is no way around slogging through the hundreds of threads page by page and collecting links.

Would it be helpful if that were divided up among several people? Say, have the thread titles on one page and volunteers agreeing to grab links out of a particular thread.

For example, have a thread where the titles of the DUKELAX threads are listed and numbered 1- 400 (or however many there are). A poster could stop by and volunteer to harvest links, say, from threads 1-5. The threads could be checked off as the harvesting is completed.
