It's interesting that of all my friends, one has a Blackberry, I have a Sidekick, and nobody else has anything other than a basic phone.
When I visited the Philippines, $300 [15,000 peso] cellphones were commonplace despite per capita incomes that made that look as expensive as a small car here. They're big status symbols there, in other words.
On the whole, I don't think fancy cellphone features interest most people in the US. I'm not sure why other than them not being status symbols.
