I and my son helped make history.

My favorite was the pirate/member of Davey Jones crew that looked like a blowfish.

And the waterwheel fight.

Three things:
1. Adjust those numbers DOWNWARD for the Fed's 20 year currency/credit INFLATION and you'll have a comparable figure;
2. The American "sheeple," like the "citizens" of Rome who rampaged through the streets crying for more "bread and circuses" while their liberties were being stripped away by the state, continually seek more passive and less intellectually demanding diversions. If you want to see a perfect blank stare, stand outside one of those theaters and ask these people to name their member of congress!
3. "No one will ever go broke UNDERESTIMATING the taste of the American people." H.L. Mencken. He could have added "intelligence."

Cynical? No, just realistic.

I went to see it yesterday, too. I loved the waterwheel fight, and the rolling cage thingy the crew was trapped in.

I didn't like the storyline, or movie as much as the first one, but Depp was excellent as the Captain Jack Sparrow.

Davey Jones Crew was a feast for the eyes-(Well, if you like seafood)

Finally, the first movie of the year that is strictly to entertain and not make a political statement.... one that allows people to do what we pay money to do -- escape from reality for a couple of hours. This one I will spend money to go see, I read that Depp has already said he'd gladly do a 4, 5, 6 -- he loves the character he gets to play.

What really makes me happy is it blowing Superman out of the water with it's "global" message.

Now now, i liked superman alot, even though i was angry about taking out the american way thing. There wasn't really a 'global message', i think that was just the writers being stupid. If you get past that whole idiocy on their part its actually a pretty good movie.

They should have taken a cue from spiderman, it was very pro american and did fantastic. Sam Raimi made no bones about spiderman being an american and from new york.

1) not a movie buff, never have been
2) can find much better use of my time
3) got little kids
4) don't want to subsidize anti-American ingrates who write, produce, direct and star in these films
5) too expensive for what it is worth
6) hate movie theaters

Not in that order

Come to think of it, I don't know my own member of Congress.

And why should I? Whoever he or she is, there is a 99% chance of re-election. Thus Congressman has become a life tenure job, and my opinion of his/her performance is about as irrelevant as it can be.

You, my friend, are a major part of the problem.

How about finding a decent opponent to YOUR clown and then work to get him elected.

Or is that too hard?

Weird. I didnt think the first one was anything incredibly outstanding. Just an ok venture flick.

The seacreature people looked silly in the previews for this one.

Guess Im offically out of touch with pop culture now. At least some of it anyways.

It's in over 4,000 theatres, but still, 55 million in one day means a weekend gross easily over 100 million.

Thank you for not taking your little kids. Our viewing of the movie was almost ruined by a couple of women with tiny children, one of whom whined through half the film without her bilge-sucking wench of a mom removing her until I went looking for a manager & shot her a look that seemed to send her finally out the door.

When our children were small, we either forewent the movie, got a sitter, waited for the video version, or, failing all those, and the kids started whining, we left immediately before we were keelhauled or sent off the plank into the briny deep. Aaarg.
