'VIEW' TURNS VICIOUS: WE MADE YOU A STAR!
Drudge Report ^ | Wed Jun 28 2006

Posted on 06/28/2006 9:35:45 AM PDT by presidio9

The wigs and faces have come off on morning television -- and the nails are out!

It isn't pretty.

Barbara Walters coldly ripped into outgoing VIEW talker Star Jones this morning on ABC-TV.

Walters announced that Star would no longer be permitted to appear on the show -- effective immediately -- after Star strayed from script during an exit that's turned ugly.

Transcipt:

WALTERS: "And then there were three. This is, truthfully, a very difficult day for us, and it is a sad day for us. If you were watching the program yesterday, you would have heard Star announce that she's leaving THE VIEW and will not be on the program next fall.

"We didn't expect her to make this statement yesterday. She gave us no warning. And we were taken by surprise. But the truth is that Star has known for months that ABC did not want to renew her contract and that she would not be asked back in the fall.

"The network made this decision based on a variety of reasons which I won't go into now. But we were never going to say this. We wanted to protect star. And so we told her that she could say whatever she wanted about why she was leaving and that we would back her up.

"We worked closely with her representatives and we gave her time to look for another job. We hope she would announce it on the program and leave with dignity.

"But Star made another choice.

"And since her announcement yesterday, she has made further announcements that have surprised us.

"So it is becoming uncomfortable for us to pretend that everything is the same at this table.

"And, therefore, regrettably Star will no longer be on this program, except for some shows that have been prerecorded.

"THE VIEW helped make Star a Star and Star helped make THE VIEW the success that it is.

"We will never forget that. We wish her well in this new chapter of her life as we begin a new chapter on THE VIEW."

"Barbara didn't have my back"

Star Jones fired back on Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show in Los Angeles, PerezHilton.com reports.

Star told KIIS FM: "I'm not trying to be emotional about this. I understand it was a business decision. I understood it was a business decision when I was told then. But then in that same week, I was told they were adding a new co-host and it was Rosie O'Donnell. And that was the same week that she had been so nasty and vicious towards me. Rosie insulted me. She tried to damage me professionally and personally...

"It's a little shocking to me that Barbara feels betrayed. I was really surprised that Barbara feels betrayed. If you watched me yesterday, I said that she was the most amazing mentor and I thanked her for the most amazing opportunity. My departure was orchestrated some time ago. And while I can accept any business decision, it's hard to accept the manner in which it was handled during the last two months. But, if you use words like betrayal, if anyone should be betrayed, it should be me! Barbara didn't have my back...

"It didn't sound right for me when they were saying your ratings have gone down. I said, well wait a minute, I've seen the ratings. The top five shows in the year you're talking about were about me and planning the wedding. It didn't sound right. "

Developing...

Haven't tuned into that program in years. None of the 'women's' shows really represent my View on things.

Didn't care for Star, but I fail to see how Rosie is going to help their ratings.

I have never watched this show either. I like to stay tuned to Fox news. Nothing is more boring than "girl talk", and I qualify to make that statement, for I "is" one!

Excuse me, Barb, I don't have a dog in this hunt, but Star was a well known star on Court TV before "the View".

We used to call that, one lies and the other backs it up. So much for honesty and the public's right to know. Barbara Walters is a journalist, isn't she?

Was that in the "script"?

The fans made her a star, STAR made herself a star, THE VIEW is an a bunch of feminazis who cannot stand anyone with a conservative viewpoint.

Adding Rosie O'Donnell was a slap in Star's face.

Rosie may not help their ratings but the midterm election is coming up in the fall and the DNC will take help to get their talking points out anyway they can.

Have never watched this show, and never will - my gag reflex is too sensitive.

The toxic Rosie hasn't even shown up yet and has already infected "The View" with her necrotizing venom by insulting Star Jones Whatever-her-name is.

This is the only thing the odious Rosie is good at - she ruins everything she touches - look at her failed ventures: that ridiculous musical with Boy George, she ruined her own, once-successful talk show. One thing that really sticks in my craw was her destruction of a one-time icon of women's magazines: McCall's.

The ultimate was when she was being referred to as the "Queen of Nice". Ptui! This was AFTER she publicly declared, during the 1996 presidential election, "Bob Dole sucks". I wrote a letter to Family Circle magazine who had done a fawning article about her regarding her disgusting comments, needless to say, they didn't print it. I give "The View" six months once Rosie plops her poisonous, fat butt down on the set.

My wife and her friends watch every morning. The level of sheer hatred they have for Star Jones in unreal. I mean, full-tilt nuclear hatred. My wife finds it impossible to believe there could be one single Star Jones fan in this world.

Wanna get the women yakking at your next barbecue? Bring up Star Jones, and drink every time the word 'bitch' is mentioned.

As for me, I've never really watched the show for more than one minute, but Star looked better when she was fat. Now she looks a bug-eyed female-impersonator freak. Scary looking.

I can't stand the View..

OTOH, Star is quite a piece of work. The wedding social event of the year was a joke. Gimme, gimme..gimme! And her husband has alot in common with poor Lisa Minnelle's EX..

"Star was humiliated by Al (fiancee) when she found that only weeks before he went to a Halloween party at a gay-friendly Manhattan club. Al was dressed as a male stripper--wearing a Speedo swimsuit and white bathrobe," a close source told The ENQUIRER.

"He went to the club with friends who were dressed like the Village People." (Didn't we see that scene on the Soprano's?)

When Star found out about Al's shenanigans, she quickly set him straight. (Straight? LOL, I don't think so..)

"She told him he should have known better than to go to a primarily gay party dressed in a Speedo for crying out loud! She told him to be more responsible. (How dumb can she be?)

"Star says she believes Al when he says he's not gay and that he truly loves her. But it just doesn't look right when she leaves town and the next night he's hanging out at a gay-themed party in skimpy clothes." (Earth to Star..get a clue, girl!)

I haven't watched The View in a long time. Star says she's a Christian, which I don't doubt, but she's not all that conservative. Right after Sept. 11 she was a big supporter of President Bush, but I guess her fervor has died down. She's also a lawyer, BTW.

So she says whatever she wanted to say and got immediately canned? Okay, I get it, I understand the logic.

She will attract the militant lesbians to the live audience, who will echo Rosie's views with their applause- thus leading the viewing public to assume that everyone agrees with Rosie. Of course, you'll also hear the boos when Liz gives her side of it.

The show will spin out of control with Rosie's mouth. Thank God I've never watched it.

Rosie was also a big supporter of GWB after 9-11. But then GWB betrayed her by not supporting gay marriage. LOL. I laugh at those in the gay community who honestly expect the President to support gay marriage. That's like me expecting Hillary Clinton to be pro life.
