The THREAD OUGHT to BRING out the KOOKS!
There has been a lot of discussion about "evolution" vs. "Intelligent Design".
Propenents of evolution point out that borrowing the features of natural selection (randomly modifying characteristics, looking at the resulting performance, and keeping characteristics which improve performance while discarding the others) can be done systematically to yield vastly improved engineering designs.
The Air Force uses variants of this method for target acqusition, I'm told.
The article is about using the methods to improve the design of nuclear power plants.
Some Intelligent Design folks claim that setting up a situation in which random mutation and selection are actually effective, takes a great deal of intelligence.
Patrick Henry is the moderator of most of the crevo threads.
I get tired of the Creationists getting the stuffing kicked out of them on the threads (as most of them have no science background to speak of), so I occasionally try to educate the Creationists without sarcasm, and take potshots at evolutionists when I feel they are 'piling on'.
For this I have been kicked by both sides, so nowadays I usually just post bad puns.
Cheers!
"dar-WIN"? That's really stretching it...
How about:
If reactors could up and evolve
And our energy problems be solved,
Would creationists quit
With the kill-Darwin sh!t,
Or would fighting be somehow involved?
