Went to pick some things up at the local Wally-world today, and there, covering the theft sensors, it was. . . a movie poster announcing the release of "Brokeback Montain" on DVD. . .and curiously enough, the NEXT sensor had an ad for "Narnia". . .
I was under the impression that Wal-Mart was trying to be family-friendly, at least in entertainment: they limit song lyrics, I'm actually surprised that they're selling "Brokeback" next week . . .
Family-friendly or fudge-friendly ?
Wal-Mart used to be family friendly when Sam Walton was alive. The kids have sold out to diversity and tolerance pressure. Daddy would be very disappointed in them.
(I'm asking, this isn't rhetorical.)
I went in to the Wal-Mart in Geneva, Alabama yesterday and noticed the exact same thing. It struck me as an extremely bad business decision as this is one of the most socially conservative areas of the world. Guaranteed to not please a lot of people.
You have strong libertarian leanings, but you're whining about a friggin movie on sale at Wal-Mart?
Walmart carded me for buying glue. They were caving to public pressure over supposed kids who like to "sniff".
I love the store, but now I won't buy anything that they card for, like glue and DVDs.
"Made in China" is one thing, but I don't want to feel like I am actually shopping there.
If they don't sell they won't carry it.
And if it doesn't sell, they'll dump it. I suspect they'll make a lot more from Narnia. Shoot, I'm even thinking about buying Narnia.
I was at a self service register last week. I got carded on some paint remover. It kind of insulted me. The clerk didn't ask for ID . She just looked at me and punched in an approval.
I was just curious: figured it was a case of company saying one thing, and doing another. . .
Skip Wal-Mart and China. Buy direct from India. :-)
I say this only half in jest.
Of all things, on Monday I purchased online a . . . tortilla press. Monday . . . 27 March. The press will arrive tomorrow . . . 31 March . . . from Bombay, India . . . a day late due to a late train somewhere in Ohio!
Dell Computers is located 85 miles north of here and they can't ship to me that fast.
Well, it's rated R, if you have problem with them selling rated R movies, well, The Passion of the Christ was sold there also and it's rated R.
And no, I'm not comparing The Passion to Brokeback Mountain.
Don't like the movie? Don't friggin buy it. If no one wants it, guess what? It won't be around very long. Not much to worry about. I stepped into the Hell that is Wal-Mart today to get my 06 fishing license. Didn't notice any movie posters and couldn't care less about it. Caught six bass my first day out this year, and that was without a boat, from the shore. Life is good. Oh, waaaaaah, they're selling a homo movie at Wal-Mart!! What should I do????!!
I am psyched to see Narnia. It's on backorder with Netflix. I just want to see the scenes with the beavers. I don't really care about the rest of it.
And no, I'm not comparing The Passion to Brokeback Mountain.
Are you . . . sure? :-)
Obviously, people and communities of them do not believe all Rs are created equal.
The Beavers were cool. So were the centaurs. I always liked centaurs.
I would expect them to sell it otherwise they are no better than the cowardly bookstore refusing to sell a magazine for being afraid of muslims.
I have no intention of buying it and I don't give a rip who does buy it, it ain't my money being wasted.
Centaurs freak me out. But my wife and I are absolutely silly about large chubby rodents: beavers, groundhogs, marmots, porcupines. Just love them. I imagine in Heaven we'll have lots of rodent friends and they'll talk to us. Uh-oh, the men in the white lab coats are here. Gotta run.
Right on. Fly on free bird.
