Listen, before Sunkist pays anybody $20/hr to pick lemons, they will be in South America buying their fruit to sell to us.
Sounds good to me. It'll free up more prime California land for development, reduce demand on scare water supplies, less water pollution from agricultural runoff, etc.
A lot of the fruit we get in the winter actually comes from South America already, BTW. I don't see the harm in importing more from elsewhere during the rest of the year (can't be SA, though, since our summer is their winter).
