What a beautiful picture.
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear how that turned out. That must have been all of them since she is now lurking around.
So sad.
That's what I figured. I'll wash the mat tonight. I just want to give her some time to grieve. It's just to sad watching her sniff that mat.
I can imagine. What a long day this must have been for you.
Mama cat is acting so strange. Well, out of character is more like it I guess.
It's interesting how animals like cats, dogs, and dolphins exhibit human-like signs of grief.
That is so true. I'm not a cat person so I don't know how cats act in a situtation like today. Call me crazy but, I think she's distraught.(if cats can be)
Everytime I go outside to do anything...she shadows me. She has never done that before. Usually she just runs up a tree or under the house when we go outside.
When I try to approach her she runs away. If I just go about my bussiness and not even acknowledge that she's there, she stays about 5 feet away from me and follows me where ever I go.
I wonder if she thinks you have the babies somewhere and it watching to see if you lead her to them. I have no idea, just a thought. Or, perhaps she is in some small way, thanking you for helping her.
I definitely think that she is probably distraught. It's like when they say some dogs grieve themselves to death after the passing of an owner.
She watched us put them in shoe boxes and carry the boxes into the field. If cats are smart enough to know what we we're doing I have no idea.

I believe that about dogs because it happened to all my pops dogs after he died. Within a year of his death, all three of them had died. (chihuahua, i picked at him and called them rat dogs, he was not amused)
I've caught stray chichuahua's out here and always thought about him.
How sad for her, she has no babies left.
