The Dragon Flies' Lair~ Thread XXVI~March 28, 2006
The Seven Muses | March 28, 2006 | bentfeather/Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

New Thread!

Cool.

Ah the joys of spring:
Stuffy nose or else it's running,
Asthma in the coming,
My heart, it is a-humming
with Albuterol and Flo-vent,
Sudafed and sleep's spent,
Ah pollen that I am not allegic to,
Aftershaves and perfumes ewww,
The mysteries life poses,
Like Flonase smelling like roses.

everyone packing tissues by the pound
sneezing, sneezing, pollens explode

Yep. Haven't had a problem with paint and lacquer...yet. However, my list seems to be growing as I get older. The first was perfume. And hairspray? I have to make hair appointments in the early morning before the salon is steeped in it. Cleaning solvents have progressed to the level where I hold my breath when I'm in the aisle to pick up dish soap. I am very thankful that I do not suffer from allergies to flowers and plants in general. Just the chemicals used to copy their fragrance.

Glad you like it Ms Feather. I've been told that the Lair is a magical place where anything can happen. So, the Lair can have a veranda in a full-blooming garden during March. Don't forget about the ballet class later on!

Some say it magic
some say it peace
some say it's quiet
and some a change of pace.

I hope it's all of these things in one
with lots of fun packed in, too,
with haiku, and poetry flowing freely
dancing with the muse.

That's very nice. I think you can safely say that you have accomplished all that. Here's my serious poetic posting for the day (so far). A sweetly succinct poem by e.e. cummings.

On this date in history:

In 1797, Nathaniel Briggs was awarded a patent for the first
washing machine.

In 1881, P.T. Barnum and James A. Bailey merged their
circuses to form "The Greatest Show on Earth."

In 1939, Madrid surrendered to the nationalist forces of
Generalissimo Francisco Franco in the Spanish Civil War.

In 1968, the counterculture musical "Hair" opened on Broadway.

In 1969, Dwight D. Eisenhower, 34th president of the United
States, died in Washington at age 78.

In 1979, a failure in the cooling system at the nuclear power
plant on Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania caused a near
meltdown. It was the worst accident at a U.S. civilian
nuclear facility.

In 1991, just days before the 10th anniversary of the
attempt on his life, former President Ronald Reagan
endorsed a 7-day waiting period for handgun purchases,
reversing his earlier opposition.

In 1993, Russian President Boris Yeltsin survived an
impeachment vote by the Congress of People's Deputies.

Also in 1993, French voters rejected the ruling Socialists
and gave the conservative alliance a crushing majority in
legislative elections.

In 1994, pre-election clashes between Zulu nationalists,
the ANC and police claimed 53 lives in Johannesburg,
South Africa.

In 1996, the U.S. Congress approved the presidential
line-item veto.

In 1997, an Italian warship collided with an Albanian ship
crowded with refugees, causing an undetermined number of
deaths.

In 2002, the U.S. Justice Department said it would seek
the death penalty against Zacarias Moussaoui, the only
person charged at the time as a co-conspirator in the
Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

In 2003, a Turkish student surrendered after hijacking
an Istanbul-to-Ankara jetliner with about 200 people
aboard. No one was hurt.

In 2004, more than 40 people were reported killed in a
series of bombings and gun battles in the central Asian
nation of Uzbekistan.

In 2005, a massive earthquake jolted the western coast
of Sumatra reportedly killing as many as 3,000 people
and destroying hundreds of buildings.

You are so welcomed, bentfeather.

This podcast contains a tune with an intro sent to me by a Chinese podcaster named Peter Mahero. His speech isn't perfect but he wants to do an American podcast to the Chinese young and the world ... brave or foolish, yet to be determined.

This is the world's public taking to the airwaves.
No more MSM! The Voices are rising!

These are very troubled times
riots on the street of Paris
coming from an entitled youth
socialism is the demon
is it creeping here in America?

Bombs explode in Baghdad
war is hell and our troops die
freedom is the reason why.

Capitalism is frowned on by many
it's a evil thing to want to make
ones own way in this world.

Independence is hard fought for
freedom to go in and out our door
work from dusk till dawn if need be

No people wish totally controlled
freedom means many things
and responsibility is one of them
to our families, to our nation,
for our actions.

There ain't no place for whiners
they will never change
always wanting more and more
that someone else has dug from the ground.

We are a mighty nation
compassion is our name
we opened up the doors
for all to seek the same
not on the back on another
but by their own two hands

work is good therapy
helps one sleep at night
holding on to all our dreams
keeps the going right.

Just some rambling of mine today.

First draft of a serious poem, I think:

Meditation on the Fourth Sorrowful Mystery: Jesus Carries His Cross

Each step, each breath, each beat of your heart - pain.
The weight of the cross so heavy,
each step a small miracle of your perseverance,
the determination to pay that price,
no matter how shaky the legs,
how short the breath,
how much it cost to make each step.

Glorified.
This is how the Father does it,
the way he did not ask Abraham to take,
no sacrifice of the firstborn for his chosen people,
sacrificed by blood and fire.
No.
But through you, his only-begotten,
laboring there beneath the crossbeam,
Your hair and face streaked with blood beneath the thorny crown,
face beneath the smears ashen with pain,
and the gathering doom in your chest,
already making you hungry for breath,
Scapegoat,
bearing the sins of the world,
each bruise, each welt merely a token of what they deserve.
Glorified
as you walk,
the smell of blood and fear and sweat and death and pain
swirling around you,
our deaths, our pains, our griefs
on your one set of shoulders,
each movement crying out its pain,
only a foretaste of the pains ahead,
until, fulfilled,
you slip away,
glorified indeed by the hands of your loving Father,
and in that new dawning,
hope born in the birthpangs we can only imagine,
you will stand glorified,
our Lord
world without end,
amen.

I had to post and run and I'm doing it again. Son of Shag goes to the orthodontist for a regular visit at the most inopportune time. Then going to see a friend, an elderly WWII veteran at hospital afterwards. Pray for him and pray for the best driving skills for me today. I am jumpy and irritable. lol!
