I believe he'll be born on March 22, 2233.

Just 227 years away!

Spock is great. I watched the reruns with my parents (my mom was in school when Star Trek came out, she would rush home to watch, apparently she always missed the beginning of each episode).

this is my favorite scene from the movies

i really like buses

I love that scene, too! And everybody on the bus applauds! In the same movie, I also like when the gal says to Kirk, "... and you're from outer space." He replies: "No, I'm from Iowa. I work in outer space."

I got to meet and chat with William Shatner a couple of weeks ago -- I spent all day among a group of celebs, of which he was one, and so saw him in a lot of different kinds of settings. I'd heard and read over the years that he was kind of a jerk, so I expected him to be arrogant and a pain-in-the-ass interview, not to mention fat.

He was neither. Actually he was the coolest guy there -- really a lot of fun, very funny, didn't take himself AT ALL seriously (a refreshing change, especially from a couple of actors and pro athletes who certainly struck me as pretty stuck on themselves), and for his age, in pretty good shape. Not fat at all! He was very kind to me and when I interviewed him, was pretty much a laugh a minute, joking the whole time. His voice and way of speaking -- that incredible lyricism in his voice -- is wonderful. I suspect that what a lot of people interpret as Ego or Arrogance is simply that Shatner really doesn't give a rat's ass about whether people "approve" of him or not. A very comfortable man, overall, I thought.

He replies: "No, I'm from Iowa. I work in outer space.

I need to watch the movie again, but when I was living out in Iowa, my friend and I went to Riverside, the "Future Birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk." There was a little Enterprise in the middle of town, I have pictures around here somewhere.

that is cool, meeting and chatting with him, he sounds like a good guy.

Welcome to FR officially. I got all the old Star Trek's on DVD when thay came out. It's so nice to see the shows without the commercials and even my teens love them.

Howlin, I'm pinging you to this post of Finny's because she got to meet and interact with "Denny Crane" himself, and I know you are a fan!

Very cool post, Finny.
I'm sure Shatner enjoyed you, too!

I got the impression, particularly recently, that Shatner is amused in a sort of "Look how things turned out" way and is having a hoot with his life.
